We have created a great new opportunity for a trainee / intern to join our Innovation & Design Team on a 1-year placement where you will learn new skills and apply existing knowledge.
An award-winning global customer research and design team made up of industrial designers, design researchers, human factors engineers and user experience designers, this group’s focus is on delivering compelling physical and digital product design solutions and performance-focused user experiences for the enterprise market.
As part of the Innovation & Design team, our designers are challenged to envision new products which solve complex problems, and which are carried into high-volume production.
Responsibilities
Supporting our team in the creation of digital assets (this is not physical product design) for Interaction and User Experience Design for mobile and desktop applications. Our trainee / intern will learn what it means to be an integral part of a growing, global team that is involved in strategic and tactical projects.

A day in the life of an Innovation & Design Trainee
- Icon Creation: Design and prepare icons for use in apps, websites, and marketing materials, ensuring they meet design guidelines and are developer-ready.
- Animations: Develop loading animations for apps and storytelling animations for PowerPoint presentations, adding a dynamic element to designs.
- App Design Across Devices: Work on designs for Zebra’s digital solutions, focusing on usability and aesthetics across desktop, mobile, and smart devices.
- Testing & User Feedback: Assist with usability testing, helping the team gather feedback from users to refine designs and improve the user experience.
- Global Collaboration: Work with colleagues and stakeholders from different countries, gaining exposure to diverse perspectives and ideas.
Problem-Solving Workshops: Participate in team brainstorming sessions and workshops to solve design challenges and contribute ideas.
What we’re looking for
We’re seeking an enthusiastic and curious team player passionate about understanding people and how they interact with Zebra products like handheld scanners and mobile computers.
Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree or a year-in-industry placement in a design-related discipline. Such as UX, graphic design or product design. Please note that this role focuses exclusively on designing the digital experience for Zebra products, such as apps and user interfaces, rather than physical product design (e.g., designing our physical devices). However, if you're interested in expanding your skills or exploring the broader field of design, we welcome your application!
- Basic sketching skills to communicate ideas effectively.
- Experience with digital design tools like Adobe Suite or Figma.
- A strong eye for detail and a passion for delivering high-quality creative work.
- You don’t need coding skills
