As a Junior Software Developer you will design, develop, test, document and deploy software from specifications in accordance with agreed standards, and for the support and maintenance of integrated IT solutions to the business, so that the company's aims and objectives can be achieved through its use of Information Technology. 

This varied and interesting role will extend the capabilities of the IT Software Development team to provide the business with wider technical expertise within standard software development capabilities. 

What you'll do

In this exciting role, you will

  • work with the other Software Developers, Enterprise, Solution and Technical Architects to establish and maintain agreed standards, patterns and designs applicable to the work undertaken and to ensure that they are adhered to
  • be responsible for the estimating, design, coding, testing and documentation of software, complying with agreed techniques and standards for version control of software for the company
  • plan, design and conduct unit tests on software, correcting defects, re-test to achieve an error-free result in conjunction with QA team
  • take part in peer reviews of own work, colleague and third parties as required to ensure high standards of software delivered to the business
  • monitor key production systems, processes and software used in the company, carrying out immediate remedial work or make recommendations for subsequent corrective action to ensure SLAs are kept
  • plan and undertake software upgrades under standard Change Control process, ensuring the delivery of updated software is completed to agreed timescales with full agreement and communication with business
  • ensure that all software development adheres to company security standards, and that there are no breaches to data security either internally or externally. 

What you'll need 

You will need the following technical skills

  • C#, REST Api, Blazor, MVC
  • .NET Framework, .NET
  • Transact-SQL
  • Testing Tools and Frameworks
  • RDBMS Microsoft SQL Server
  • Microsoft Visual Studio or similar IDE.

It would be nice to have experience with the following

  • Azure Cloud Stack 
  • Microsoft IIS
  • Azure DevOps
  • Deployment methods.

You will also need to

  • have good team skills working in collaboration at a highly technical level with colleagues, IT partners, IT consultants both on and off-site
  • have a degree level in software engineering or equivalent experience
  • have good communication skills
  • have the ability to work independently
  • apply unit testing consistently during development to detect errors, coupled with a familiarity with wider testing techniques used to plan and execute software tests of all application components (functional and non-functional), and thus verify that the software satisfies specified requirements
  • be proficient in this role's specific Corporate, Industry and Professional standards. Examples include secure software design, C# coding standards, organisational network performance standards, IT Service Management processes, Data Protection by Design, digital security, Agile development methodology and change management processes.
