    As a Trainee Paralegal you will play a vital role within our Recoveries department by assisting in the management and progression of possession claims through the County Court. You will ensure that clients, represented by Walker Morris, receive pro-active, consistent, and efficient levels of service.

    What you will be doing as the Trainee Paralegal

    • Handling own caseload of files (where appropriate) from initial instruction through the Court process up to: possession of a property; repayment of the arrears/remedy of the breach; and/or closure of our file, under the supervision of a more senior paralegal/the Team Manager.
    • Undertake certain elements of fee earning work under supervision. In particular:
      • Matter creation on CaseNet and utilisation of our client system links;
      • Obtaining Land Registry registers, plans, leases and documents, reviewing them and uploading their information onto our case management system;
      • Checking that the property title, customer’s circumstances and financial position are appropriate for possession proceedings to be commenced or progressed;
      • Issuing possession proceedings and processing hearing notifications;
      • Preparation of Witness Statements, ‘electronic bundles’ and agents instructions for possession hearings;
      • Dealing with applications: to suspend warrants for possession; leave to enforce possession orders; leave to re-instate adjourned possession claims; and other miscellaneous application as required;
      • Dealing with customer telephone calls and correspondence, and seeking to rehabilitate and avoid possession wherever possible;
      • Making inbound and outbound telephone calls to clients, courts, advocates, asset managers and other parties;

    What we are looking for

    • previous experience of mortgage possession proceedings is preferred Legal degree/qualification preferred but not essential
    • Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills
    • Display a proactive approach to work with high levels of organisation and attention to detail
    • Able to operate flexibly and as part of a team
