As Laboratory Technician working in an accredited laboratory, you will be responsible for delivering Quality Control testing and activities to required standards. You will prepare and maintain laboratory areas and equipment to required standards ensuring ongoing testing readiness.
Reporting to the Laboratory Manager you will undertake Quality Control testing and reporting to required standards and schedules. Whilst identifying opportunities for continuous improvement and supports wider continuous improvement activities.
Principal accountabilities
- Ensure accurate recording and statistical interpretation of Quality data to assure integrity of product quality data.
- Identify, characterize, and control non-conforming materials/work to ensure effective management of product quality.
- Manage day-to-day problem-solving within own remit and report all errors, failures, and findings to the appropriate level of the business, preventing harm, damage, or rejects from occurring.
- Support the introduction and validation of new assets in line with all adopted procedures, protocols, and standards.
- Ensure accuracy of analytical data through calibration of instruments and preparation of standards to defined schedules and requirements.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and support wider continuous improvement activities for improved departmental performance and output.
- Provide support for internal, customer, and regulatory audits, ensuring compliance with adopted standards and procedures.
- Work within all adopted industry standards and documentation at all times, manage own training, and address actions in a timely manner to ensure compliance is maintained.
- Support maintenance of compliance and continuous improvement of the Laboratory accreditation.
- Maintain inventory of laboratory equipment and consumables to enable delivery of an effective analytical service.
- Operate in a safe and efficient manner, ensuring company SHE processes are adhered to.
Experience
- Previous industrial experience in a Laboratory or Quality Control environment or within a medical device/highly regulated environment would be beneficial.
- Good knowledge of best practices of methods and processes used within a laboratory.
- Ability to successfully manage workloads and work effectively with the team and wider business.
- Demonstrates day-to-day problem-solving capabilities.
- High attention to detail and accuracy to assure integrity of product quality data.
- Ability to effectively review and interpret data and apply statistical techniques.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present test updates, audit findings, and detailed test data at all levels of the business.
- Confidently liaise with external customers and suppliers and present during regulatory and customer audits.
- Good working level of IT proficiency, particularly with Microsoft Excel.
Requirements
Essential
- Relevant higher-level vocational qualification (B/Tech, HNC, or NVQ) A-Level or equivalent in a Science, Materials, or Biomedical related subject.
Desirable
- Degree or equivalent in a Science, Materials, or Biomedical related subject.
