We are seeking to appoint two skilled Research Assistants to join the Neuropsychological evaluation and rehabilitation in multiple sclerosis (NEuRoMS) project based in Mental Health & Clinical Neurosciences, School of Medicine. This is an NIHR-funded project that aims to develop and evaluate a cognitive screening pathway for people with multiple sclerosis (MS), and a neuropsychological rehabilitation programme for people with MS with mild or moderate cognitive problems.
The role
The successful candidates will join an established multidisciplinary team of clinical researchers, led by Professor Roshan das Nair, whose main areas of research interest include applying psychological and neuropsychological theories to better understand and treat psychological issues stemming from neurological conditions.
Working alongside the team, the successful candidates will be expected to plan and conduct various research activities to achieve the study aims within the required timeline. Tasks will include recruiting participants, conducting interviews, collecting and analysing quantitative and qualitative data and liaising with members of the research team including Patient and Public Involvement (PPI representative). In addition, the successful candidates will contribute to the preparation of interim and final study reports and assist with dissemination of study results, including preparing manuscripts for publication and presenting the findings at academic and healthcare conferences.
About you
Candidates must have a degree or equivalent in psychology or other Allied Health Professional subjects, and have experience in the research area. Research skills and experience in clinical trials, quantitative and qualitative research methodologies and techniques are essential. Candidates must have good time management and writing skills, and they will be able to problem solve, have analytical skills and the ability to work well and communicate within a team. Broader experience of working with people living with multiple sclerosis will be an advantage. We are looking for someone who can demonstrate personal enthusiasm and commitment to the subject area.
