The School of Psychology, Sport Science and Wellbeing invites applications for a part-time Research Assistant to join the project “ACTing on Doping: An Empirical Investigation of Protective Factors against Doping Vulnerability”, funded by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA). The project is part of a growing body of research being conducted on doping and substance use in sport and exercise within the School.

The role

The project, led by Dr Trish Jackman, will examine protective factors against doping in sport, with a particular emphasis on psychological flexibility. As part of this role, you will be responsible for leading recruitment of participants for the project. You will also assist in preparing questionnaire data for analysis and contribute to project outputs (e.g, research publications, technical reports), in collaboration with other project team members.

About you

Candidates are expected to have a minimum of a BSc in sport science, sport psychology, sport sociology, psychology, sociology or another allied discipline. A strong ability to establish links with sport organisations and relevant personnel with access to eligible participants (e.g., coaches, administrators) is essential. Experience in past research projects in this area is desirable but not required. Existing networks and links to relevant gatekeepers and athletes in the sports of rugby (union and league), athletics, cycling, powerlifting, and/or weightlifting in the United Kingdom is highly desirable.
