The A Side: A Day in The Life

Few labels can boast as long, prestigious and varied a musical history as Polydor Records. From the 60s ‘beat boom’ onwards, through the eras of progressive rock, disco and punk, the label has been in the vanguard of every significant new musical development, while today the likes of Lady Gaga, Haim, Ellie Goulding, Billie Eilish, Sam Fender and Lana Del Rey maintain Polydor’s enviable cutting-edge reputation. 

The B Side: Skills & Experience

We are looking for a Creative Content Intern to join Polydor, our in-house creative division, based at our Kings Cross HQ. You will work alongside the Creative Director and the in-house Creative team to create forward-thinking, culturally relevant content for a diverse roster of artists and commercially focused channels. Day to day responsibilities include:

Be Administrative

  • Assisting the creative team with content planning, including all vertical formats and platforms, researching, updating contact databases in the content remit
  • Collating and distributing campaign assets – e.g. photos, artwork, presentations  
  • Taking comprehensive notes in meetings and sharing post meeting in a succinct, timely fashion
  • Working to various deadlines to produce content
  • Attending weekly and planning meetings
  • Actively researching social media platforms for trending content including: TikTok, Instagram, Twitter etc.
  • Technical support

Be Collaborative

  • Liaising with creatives (filmmakers, photographers, editors), glam (stylist, hair, make-up teams) and respective agents
  • Collaborating with artists to create content bespoke to their brand and style
  • Liaising with artist managers and key contacts diligently and professionally
  • Working closely with marketing and digital teams to ensure creative assets are delivered within an agreed timeframe
  • Liasing with digital team across the roster’s social media needs
  • Working closely with marketing managers when briefing creatives, makers and agencies to co-organise content days and make short-form content
  • Utilising own network of collaborators to create content and problem solve

Be Creative

  • Ideating content (especially for socials) as part of the creative team
  • Self-shooting and editing content both alongside larger shoots and for bespoke social content
  • Develop concepts from the wider campaign to perform best for each individual platform
  • Using knowledge of social media to find ways to fill ‘gaps’ in artist content output
  • Researching innovative content/artwork/visual campaigns as well as music videos
  • Researching new up and coming video and content directors
  • Additional ad hoc duties and team support where required
  • Internal edits and fixes on Adobe CC
  • Creating mood boards and tests
  • Looking for new talent for content opportunities
  • Utilising knowledge of classic and contemporary music videos
  • Extensive treatment reading and feedbacking

Person Specification

Necessary

  • Passionate about music and visual arts with a desire to progress in the industry
  • A keen interest in photography and filming
  • Knowledge of current social media trends, platforms and creatives
  • Experience shooting content, specifically for social platforms, particularly Tik Tok
  • The ability to learn quickly
  • Self-motivated, hardworking and enthusiastic
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Highly organised with the ability to keep calm under pressure
  • Flexible and able to prioritise own workload
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Good computer skills i.e.: Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat
  • Strong knowledge of Google docs / Cloud sharing methods
  • Experience of working with mac OSX & Windows 10

Desirable

  • Experience of working in an office environment
  • Experience working in ‘music’ (personal or professional)
  • Experience with working ‘on set’
  • Personal following amassed online or previous experience building a following
  • Experience working with talent
  • Strong digital skills: Adobe Creative Cloud with focus on Premiere, After Effects, Photoshop
  • Experience with Adobe Premiere CC and Media Encoder
  • Knowledge of tapeless workflows and file encoding
  • Knowledge of media formats and codecs
