Avantor is looking for a tech-savvy and passionate about data Samples Management Technician, to join the team based in Cambridge, UK.

    The role

    In this position, you’ll take ownership of tracking samples from clinical studies, collaborating with bio-banks and collecting, manipulating, and producing presentable data.

    You’ll be working in a scientific environment, however this role is fully desk-based, working with data, completing tasks around sample management - identifying and tracking human tissue samples using internal software, making sure that samples are stored in designated areas and ordering samples from internal biobank.

    This role will be a full-time, permanent position based in a brand-new facility at the customer site - The Discovery Centre, Bio-Medical Campus in Cambridge.     The team

    You’ll join a team of 9 associates – Scientists, Research Technicians and another Samples Management Technician, who is experienced and will be your buddy during training. The team is part of wider Pathology Group in Oncology Translational Medicine department and support identifying, locating, acquiring and tracking clinical human tissue samples from clinical studies.

    What we’re looking for

    • Education: A scientific degree in the bioscience/life sciences field or equivalent experience is preferable; however we also will consider candidates with a math or statistic background
    • Experience:
    • Working with data – tracking, collecting, manipulating, coordinating, preferably in the scientific environment
    • Experience in laboratory software and systems – electronic sample management systems
    • Excellent IT skills (advanced Microsoft Word/Excel preferable)
    • Experience in samples management/tracking
    • Exceptional planning and organisational skills with a meticulous eye for detail

    How you will thrive and create an impact

    • Coordinate, track and order human tissue samples from our internal biobank and thereafter manage the human tissue and inventory of the samples while in use by our laboratories
    • Tracking, manipulating, and pulling the data out, producing presentable data and using a sample management system
    • Engage in continuous improvement processes such as for sample handling, requisition and sample tracking
    • Ensuring own work is aligned with Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and Human Tissue Act (HTA) regulations, Safety Health and Environment (SHE) standards
