The Graduate Mechanical Design Engineer is suited to an ambitious Graduate looking to join a highly creative and technical team experienced in the design of equipment for use both offshore and subsea. The Graduate Mechanical Design Engineer will be responsible for taking conceptual designs from a blank sheet of paper through to manufacturing.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop engineering skills in Mechanical, Structural, Hydraulic and Material engineering.
  • Develop new products through a complete lifecycle. This would involve reading client specifications and concepting solutions, develop concepts into manufacturable parts and assemblies and performing Factory Acceptance Testing before delivery.
  • Development of existing products. This would involve reviewing existing products and identifying areas of improvement for cost, operation, manufacturability etc.
  • Create calculations using excel and Mathcad.
  • 3D Modelling – Using Autodesk Inventor.
  • 2D Drafting – Using Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD.
  • Finite Element Analysis (FEA) using Ansys.
  • Preparation and review of technical documentation.
  • Provide technical support for workshop production.
  • Assist in the preparation of technical tenders and budgets.

Educational requirements

  • 1st or 2:1 Mechanical Engineering Degree

Related work experience

Mandatory

  • CAD Skills, preferably Autodesk and Inventor.
  • Microsoft Office.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of ANSYS package.
  • Understanding of the industry codes, ASME, NORSOK, DNV.
