Do you want to develop real business solutions? Can you help us make technology a differentiator for our clients and employees, and deliver on our client promise of personal, relevant, on time and seamless service?
We are looking for inquisitive and motivated individuals to join our technology team. Our graduate talent program is designed to provide you with a foundation in software and application development. It will equip you for a successful career in technology across many different career paths, including software engineering and architecture, data analysis and product management.
Depending on the team you join and your interests, you could be:
- Developing applications that provide new and innovative services to our clients to proprietary-trading strategies designed by our quant teams and traders
- Enhancing production monitoring, managing issue tracking and problem resolution
- Creating system specification and design, support and maintenance for our core platforms
- Driving delivery of our client solutions, liaising with key business stakeholders to identify user needs and help our development teams prioritise on new products and / or features
Your Team
You will be working in the Chief Digital and Information Office, which is a diverse and global team who source, develop, implement, maintain and support world-class technology solutions. You’ll develop strong communication, development and analytical skills while working in a fast-paced delivery-focused environment.
Outside of our delivery teams, we are heavily focused on building an engineering culture to be proud of. We are making a significant investment into championing the adoption of a single, consistent agile set-up across the firm, driving transformational and sustainable approaches to real estate and technology and in learning programs to help you keep relevant in an ever-changing technological world. We set you up for success through participation in our Certified Engineering Program, which is a tailor-made learning pathway delivered through the Pluralsight platform to help you gain relevant skills and capabilities for the role.
Your Expertise
You need to graduate between 2021-2023 and have, or be on track for, a 2:1 or the equivalent in your first undergraduate degree, ideally in a STEM subject but not essential, especially if you have a passion for technology and can demonstrate evidence that you are:
- Eager to learn new skills
- Naturally curious and can proactively identify, break down, and solve complex problems
- Able to plan and organise with strong communication skills
- A self-starter who can make things happen
- Resilient and able to stick with difficult tasks
- Collaborative and able to work in diverse and global teams
- Innovative and able to come up with new ideas and approaches
Perhaps you’ve already got some experience in delivering analytical projects as part of your degree, internship, job or interests? Maybe you found a way to transform quantitative data and research into a new strategy, product or approach? Think about how things you’ve achieved at university or through your hobbies and interests help to demonstrate the above skills.
Your Program
We know that development opportunities are important to you and we want to make sure you you'll be successful. That's why our graduate training program is designed to ensure that you'll have an in-depth introduction to our firm and the business you will be part of.
You'll start your UBS experience by participating in UBS Discovery, a training program that will bring you up to speed on our industry, strategy, capabilities and culture.
As you move into your target business you'll benefit from both business-specific and firm-wide on- and off-the-job training that will ensure you are a confident and competent contributor from day one.
Each business has its own program that varies in duration, scope and location, but they all share a similar approach that breaks down complex information into manageable elements. The teaching methods and environment encourage you to get to know your peers. In some areas, an extended induction period provides further team building and networking opportunities.
You keep on learning once you join your team. You may be rotated through a number of desks and departments to broaden your product knowledge and extend your network of contacts. In some departments, regular lectures and presentation events allow for the sharing of knowledge as well as promoting team spirit. Ongoing training and development encourages your career progress.
