The role
We are looking for an Associate Scientist to join our multidisciplinary and dynamic team. This position represents an excellent opportunity for someone wanting to start their career in biotech and work alongside a committed team of scientists working on the translation of an early stage oncolytic immunotherapy product through clinical development.
The candidate must be a proactive, organised individual and possess the curiosity and interest to pursue a career in cancer immunotherapy. We are looking for someone who is a self-starter, has excellent communication skills, can interact with a diverse group of scientific disciplines and is happy to jump in when required in what is an exciting work environment.
Activities
- Assisting a team of scientists with experiments (e.g. flow cytometry, ELISA, QPCR etc);
- Maintenance of cancer cell cultures, and processing of primary tissue and blood samples, including the establishment and maintenance of quality sample archiving systems;
- Performance of various assays for virus quality control and characterisation (training provided as required);
- Experimental planning and taking ownership of tasks;
- To assist with general laboratory/instrument maintenance.
We’re looking for someone that has
- A BSc and/or MSc degree in a relevant discipline (such as Biomedical Science, Virology, Cancer Biology, Molecular and Cell Biology);
- Experience working in a lab environment;
- Experience with tissue culture (cancer cell lines and/or primary cells);
- Basic molecular biology and/or biochemical techniques;
- Good verbal and written communication skills, with good record keeping skills.
- Desirable - but not mandatory - skills, experience and attributes include:
- Experience as a research assistant/laboratory technician/scientist in a company and/or academic lab;

- Virology techniques
- Blood and/or primary tissue processing

- Strong IT skills (including proficiency with Word, Excel and PowerPoint), and comfort using shared drives.
