    The Papotto Lab at The University of Manchester, is looking for a research technician with strong immunology and organizational skills for a period of 12 months, starting in May 2025.

    The role

    You will provide technical assistance to ongoing research projects in the lab, studying the role of skin innate-like lymphocytes cells in regulating local and distal immune response to allergens, helminths and other inflammatory insults.

    Experience with techniques in the fields of immunology, molecular biology and parasitology, and ability to understand the immunological concepts underlying the project is essential. Organizational skills are also essential, as you will be responsible for maintaining a support structure to the ongoing experiments.

    Finally, the ability to work as part of a dynamic team working in different aspects of mucosal immunology is highly valued.

    About you

    Essential Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Qualification:

    • Degree or equivalent in Biomedical Sciences, or related subject
    • Specialist knowledge in immunology, including use of mouse models
    • Experience in immunology research methods and techniques, in particular flow cytometry, qPCR, cell culture, histology, western blotting, ELISA.
    • Experience in molecular biology techniques, such as cloning, gel extraction, mini-prep, bacterial expression and SDS-PAGE
    • Knowledge of and compliance with relevant Health and Safety regulation, the Data Protection Act , Standard Operating Procedures and risk assessments including COSHH risk assessments.
    • Competent computer skills
