The role

Over the years, Stantec has developed a reputation as a progressive and forward-thinking consultancy through the consistent and repeated delivery of high-quality work to our clients. We are prominent in the water, energy, waste, buildings and transport sectors. Our work in the energy and resources sector includes iconic hydro power and pumped storage schemes, conventional and advanced thermal power generation, recycling systems and mining and minerals.

From traditional advisory and owners engineer roles we now rapidly becoming established in the EPCM and design services role for major new build projects such as plastics recycling, renewables power generation and complex treatment/production facilities. We are involved in all stages of the project life from concept development and FEED through detailed design and procurement to construction and commissioning. We also provide refurbishment and optimisation advice and design services.

Buoyed by recent successes and the development of new projects and clients we are looking to increase our Design Services team by employing additional Graduate Process Engineers in the Newcastle office.

You will be involved in the whole project life cycle from optioneering through to detailed design and installation. You will also be involved with feasibility studies, site surveys and investigations. In line with our Communities of Practice approach, there are opportunities to work on a wide variety of projects including in water, wastewater, energy, infrastructure and environmental sectors.

Graduates would work along side senior colleagues with many years’ experience in the delivery of construction projects.

Team members are routinely engaged in producing technical specifications, equipment and process sizing calculations, schedules, reports and collaborative reviews and designs of solutions. We support collaborative design outputs, such as General Arrangement Drawings, process models, mass balances and P&IDs. Our team will be expected to create specifications and scoping documents for award of construction packages and assess vendor designs and progress.

About you

The skills and experience we look for in our graduates:

  • You will have achieved or be on target to achieve a minimum of an Honours Degree in Chemical Engineering.
  • You will have a keen interest in the energy industry
  • Any relevant work experience gained through summer placements and internships is beneficial.
  • Most importantly, you will embody and support our values of client focus, designing with community in mind, collaboration and service excellence.
  • Finally, you must be eligible to live and work in the UK at the time you start employment.
