Spreadex has been operating for 25 years as a sports and financial spread betting provider. The business expanded to offer fixed odds betting in 2010, casino betting in 2011 and CFD trading in 2017. Spreadex is the only global operator to offer all these services under one brand.

After 25 years of sustained profits, we’re now looking to take the next step and materially grow the business in the next 5 years on both the sports and financials side. Our ambitious plans are being supported by a material increase in our Marketing Budget and our expansion into Denmark. This opening provides the successful candidate with the opportunity to join a growing team in a vibrant office based in St Albans, just outside London. The role will be a mix of working from the office and working from home.

About the position

We are looking to recruit a productive, organised, hard-working and creative Junior Marketing Assistant who will be primarily focussed on promoting our sports betting product but will also have involvement in our financial and casino products.

A passion for sports and a detailed awareness of the major current sporting events will be crucial in this role as will an interest in and good understanding of the mechanics of sports spread betting and fixed odds betting. A basic understanding of the workings of the financial markets is also preferred but not a requirement.

You will have excellent English skills and the ability to write creatively about sports in context of betting. You will also have an eye for detail with basic design skills and be comfortable in dealing with numbers and spreadsheets, with competency in numeracy.

The responsibilities

Reporting into the Head of Marketing, you will be assisting the marketing team in a number of areas; predominantly across our sports spread betting and fixed odds betting product, but also across our financial trading and casino products from time to time.

Working with our CRM Manager to help with:

  • Setting up different automated customer flows to improve activity levels
  • Creating or editing emails or other methods of communication within the flows such as SMS, Push, weblogin messages etc.
  • Adding tracking to messaging in all flows to aid analysis of performance
  • Helping with reporting and in identifying areas which can be improved

Working with our Affiliate Manager to help with:

  • Ensuring Spreadex promos, copy and logos are up to date on partner sites
  • Responding to affiliate queries for tracking links, new offers, content etc.
  • Helping to analyse the effectiveness of different partner deals and in expanding the number of affiliate partners

Working with content writers and social media team to help with:

  • Producing or uploading blog/website, email, social media, push, affiliate or other content
  • Reviewing site SEO metadata regularly to help boost natural search results
  • Working with our Partner Football Clubs (such as Sunderland AFC, West Bromwich Albion, Watford etc.) to help manage social media competitions, ticket allocations, prize delivery, content etc.

Assisting our Search team with:

  • Creating, tracking and setting up Campaigns, Adgroups or Ads
  • Collating keyword groups for new test Campaigns
  • Analysing performance data to help determine areas for improvement

Helping our designers with:

  • Creating imagery for the website, emails, social media channels, digital ads etc. based on our ‘low poly’ sports people brand feel
  • Creating graphics for our IT department on request

Additionally, the Junior Marketing Assistant may be required to cover other marketing team tasks when required, for example in:

  • Answering customer promotion queries
  • Working with compliance, back office or accounts on tasks when required
  • Assisting our Danish Marketing Executive in tasks for our Danish site
  • Helping at client events or industry conferences where we may have a stand

The requirements

Education and Personal Skills:

  • A strong degree from a top quality university.
  • A dedicated, hard-working and productive manner and a high level of attention to detail.
  • A thorough and organised approach to work, with the ability to follow instruction and work through allocated tasks in accordance with assigned priorities and deadlines.
  • Good numeracy skills and a strong commercial and financial awareness.
  • We are also looking for someone with initiative who can spot opportunities and help contribute to team meetings with ideas and suggestions that will help improve efficiency and return on investment.

Sport and Betting:

  • A passionate interest in a range of sports and a keen awareness of the key players involved in and stories surrounding the major sporting events taking place each day.
  • A strong interest in sports betting and a thorough understating of how sports spread betting works.

Writing Skills:

  • Excellent English and grammar skills and the ability to write about sport in the context of sports betting with a creative and engaging style.
  • The ability to liaise with clients via email regarding promotional questions on their accounts in a professional and courteous manner.

Image Work:

  • The ability to manipulate, edit, crop and resize imagery to a high artistic standard using Photoshop.
  • A good understanding of basic design principles such as use of negative space, margins, consistency of fonts and colours and the ability to create content within defined style guides.

Applications:

  • The ability to quickly learn and work with a number of different marketing applications such as updating the website via CMS systems or creating email designs within Email Service Providers.

Experience:

  • Ideally you will have at least two years’ experience of having worked in a marketing department in the betting, trading or wider sports industries, however, we are also happy to consider applications from highly educated candidates without this experience who can demonstrate expertise in the areas above.
