SLR's Civil and Structural Engineering team in Edinburgh have an exciting summer placement opportunity for a 3rd or 4th year Engineering student looking to gain experience working in a leading environmental consultancy.
The placement is for a 10-12 week period, commencing in early June 2023, however exact dates/duration shall be confirmed with the successful candidate.
About the role
The candidate will be given the opportunity to support our team on a wide variety of projects across the renewable energy, waste and recycling and environmental engineering sectors. The work shall be varied from Design through to Site Supervision, giving the successful candidate an insight not only into consultancy but also interesting and varied projects.
We like to think what set's SLR out against some other consultants is not only our variety of projects but also their varied project durations. Even during a short placement with SLR you will be able to see some projects from start to finish giving you a real sense of understanding of the process behind a project.
In addition, to working within the Civil and Structural Engineering team, SLR's One Team culture encourages supporting other technical disciplines though out the company. This approach allows individuals to understand and learn about other technical disciplines and how these link across projects. This allows people to develop holistic approaches to projects because very rarely is a project just about one element.
The successful applicant will report to, and work closely, with Engineers in our Edinburgh office, however depending on project workload, there may be a requirement to work on active construction sites throughout Scotland as well.
We hope this opportunity interests you and we look forward to receiving your application.
