What does the job involve?
As an Junior NPI Engineer you will be responsible for assisting with the introduction of new products into the business. Under the guidance of the Senior NPI Engineer, you will work within a structured, gated process to manage projects through concept, costing, design, and development, culminating in product launch and serial manufacture.
A successful candidate will have a background in engineering, show good initiative, and be keen to learn new skills. Strong communication and MS Office skills are essential, as is enthusiasm, cooperation and a positive outlook.
This multi-disciplined role requires the ability to engage internal and external resources to deliver projects on time, on cost and on quality. Hours of work: 37.5 hours per week. Core shift - Monday to Thursday 08:00 to 16:15 and Friday 08:00 to 15:00 with 30-minute break for lunch.
What will my responsibilities include?
- Assist the NPI team in delivering projects to an APQP based internal procedure from the quotation stage to production handover.
- Working with the NPI team to co-ordinate and carry out PPAP related activity, including risk registers, pFMEA’s, process flow documents and MSA.
- Analysing and collating necessary technical information required for project deliverables in support gate closures.
- Setting up new parts in the ERP system, including BOM’s and routing, in line with the costing estimation.
The creation and maintenance of detailed work instructions to control the manufacturing process of NPI work packages from development, through to serial production.
What key skills and experience do I need?
- Degree, HND, HNC, Advanced Diploma qualified.
- Able to interpret engineering drawings, and interpret quality standards/specifications.
- Self-motivated, organised with excellent time management skills.
- Strong ‘team player’, utilising all available resources to get the best result.
- Engineering/manufacturing focused with a commercial awareness.
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal).
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Computer literate including MS Office (MS Project is also desirable)
What key skills and experience are desirable?
- of 1 years’ experience in an engineering role, preferably in an Aerospace related environment.
- Working knowledge of MRP systems, preferably Syspro.
- CAD experience (preference Solidworks).
