The ‘Analyst in Training’ Programme has been in place for over 20 years and has a solid track record of success in the organisation. Programme “graduates” now occupy a variety of senior roles in the various product groups globally.

Position Highlights

The Analyst Graduate Rotational Programme is the gateway to becoming an Analyst in one of our Capital Markets’ main business areas: Fixed Income Trading and Sales, FX Trading and Sales, CMF: Collateral Management Funding, Emerging Market Sales, Debt Capital Markets and Global Equities including Prime Services.

For individuals who are passionate about the capital markets, this programme is designed to develop technical, analytical and interpersonal skills in the sales, trading and structuring functions. The programme consists of key aspects:

Classroom

The Capital Ideas Programme is designed to orient participants to our culture, people, products and services and to provide the skills and contacts critical for success. From day one, Analysts will work with their peers from around the world to expand their global network. Team projects, individual study and social activities supplement classroom discussions. These are just some of the things you can expect to get involved in:

  • Shadowing traders to learn risk management techniques, and develop key trading/market making skills
  • Shadowing sales who cover global clients including official institutions, bank treasury desks, global asset managers, pension funds and alternative asset managers. Providing a solutions-based coverage model including cash, interest rate derivatives, inflation derivatives, options, FX, repo and bespoke structured solutions across a variety of different currencies.
  • Interacting with stakeholders to develop a strong understanding of the global markets and products, with the opportunity to apply knowledge to real world situations.
  • Completing projects set by the team which includes preparing market commentary, analysing client trading data, and other ad hoc tasks.

Rotation

Analysts begin their 12 month programme gaining a solid understanding of each area in the trade floor, after which they will work with the programme manager to build a customized programme based on their skills, interests and business needs of the organization. Rotationals will complete 4-5 rotations, 12 weeks in length based on a learning path that is either client or trading focused.

Feedback

We believe that ongoing feedback is a critical component to any learning process. Throughout the programme Analysts are provided with ongoing feedback from their Mentor, the Programme Manager, and a supervisor within each business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide assistance to the Sales, Trading and Structuring staff on the trade floor in the execution of their day-to-day functions
  • Gain exposure to other business areas within the bank mainly those within the Support/Control functions
  • Work on research projects that may be required from time to time
  • Prepare client presentations and daily market commentary
  • Provide exceptional client support
  • Keep abreast of market information, economic releases, trends and factors that affect market movement.

Requirements

  • A recent graduate with a passion for Banking and Finance
  • A demonstrable interest and knowledge in the financial markets
  • A proven record of outstanding achievement in academic and extracurricular activities
  • An independent thinker and decision maker who can contribute effectively to the team's success
