A key member of the Retail FP&A team supporting the planning, budgeting, forecasting, and governing of capital across the Sainsbury’s Group.
This role provides Capital financial control and analysis as we seek to deliver our Group Investment strategy. Liaising with Finance representatives across the whole of the Sainsbury’s Group, owning the benefits realisation and the Post Investment Review (PIR) process, while providing reporting and insight to the Capital Returns Forum (CRF) and additional forums.
What you need to do
- Produce timely and accurate capital reporting to the Business Performance Review (BPR) and key stakeholders as required
- to effectively and proactively manage the capital performance, latest view and benefit realisation
- Support with the coordination of the capital budget, forecasts, and corporate plan, working cross functionally with all divisional finance teams to understand and challenge, including risks & opportunities
- Support in the coordination of papers and actions for both the BPR Investment review and the Capital Forum (CRF) on capital performance and capital budgets
- Ownership of the Group capital benefits realisation database, driving accountability and insight to deliver the return on investment (ROI) objectives. Ensuring the process is communicated to the finance business partners and governance is complied
- Ownership of the Group capital benefits realisation reporting, tracking key capital projects versus their original capital business case, ensuring the P&L impact is embedded and production of a Group Capital benefits realisation pack for presentation at the CRF and additional forums
- Support the Finance Transformation team to deliver the Future Finance Programme and drive change, in particular the Planning, Budgeting and Forecasting (PBF) tool
- Support on Half Year and Year End accounting deliverables
What you need to know and show
- Studying for a Professional Accounting Qualification (ACA, ACCA or CIMA)
- Effective communicator, both orally and written, ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders and build trusted relationships
- High levels of drive and resilience, and able to cope with ambiguity
- Strong commercial acumen, with a focus on driving excellent financial and commercial performance
- Experience in financial planning/business partnering role (Retail industry a distinct advantage)
- Advanced Excel modelling skills
