The Role

Our RADAR Microcontroller Customer Applications Engineering team in Glasgow, Scotland are looking for a highly motivated Automotive Applications Engineer Intern to join our team from the summer of 2023.

This vacancy is within the RFP (Radio Frequency Processing) organisation, one of the core businesses of NXP. Our technologies for automotive applications create new ways to make cars safer & more secure, and aid the drive towards fully autonomous operation. Our radar systems give vehicles the ability to sense their environment and make decisions based on these external detections.

NXP is the number 1 supplier of automotive semiconductors and a market leader in automotive radar solutions.

Responsibilities

In this exciting role you will be part of the Radar MCU customer applications engineering team supporting radar solutions in the automotive space. The specific job role will include:

  • Supporting and enhancing collateral for new microcontrollers and microprocessor solutions for the automotive market.
  • Creating example software and hardware to demonstrate the capabilities of NXP solutions.
  • Working with key automotive customers to support their effective usage of NXP products.
  • Collaborate with internal software and hardware teams on next generation products.

Requirements

To ensure your successful performance in this role, the following is desired:

  • Graduating Summer 2024
  • Hands-on experience with microcontroller/microprocessor architectures, especially ARM.
  • Experience in debugging & fault finding on microcontroller/microprocessor hardware.
  • Experience of embedded operating systems (e.g. embedded Linux) would be beneficial.
  • Knowledge of radar systems, vision processing or machine learning/AI would be beneficial.
  • Experience of programming in embedded C and/or C++ would be beneficial.
  • Experience of programming in Python and other high-level languages under Linux would be beneficial.
  • Knowledge of networking protocols (e.g. CAN, Ethernet) would be beneficial.
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills (English language).
  • Naturally structured and diligent, self-motivated.
