The role

We are looking to recruit a Graduate/Trainee Planning Consultant in the Planning discipline based within the Estates Team of the Norwich office.

The Norse Consulting Estates Team includes experienced property professionals providing planning, estates and asset management services to a range of clients and have been doing so for over 25 years.

We are a strategic partner to a number of Local Authorities delivered through our joint venture model and deliver services through a range of contract types, with the aim of understanding and delivering the needs of our clients.

The Planning Team includes Chartered Town Planners, and the Graduate/Trainee Planning Consultant will report to the Associate Director – Planning and will assist in providing general planning and development advice on a day-to-day basis to colleagues and clients and will also support larger collaborative pieces of work within the Group and work in accordance with the Group’s values.

The main role accountabilities 

  • Work within various timescales and briefs set out by clients and manage a caseload accordingly
  • Assist in providing effective planning and development advice to clients
  • Assist with the identification of planning potential for sites including investigating site opportunities and constraints and assessing development potential
  • Assist/prepare specific planning/development schemes and promote these through the planning process to meet client requirements
  • Submit planning and associated applications
  • Assist in undertaking development appraisals, planning briefs and masterplans of land/buildings and prepare schemes to maximise development potential/optimise the value of sites to deliver best value to meet clients’ requirements.
  • Assist in reviewing development plans, identifying future development potential and take appropriate action to promote the inclusion of relevant sites and policies within Local Plans.
  • To keep up to date with current planning law and practice.
  • Assist colleagues in the identification and realisation of new business opportunities with a focus on planning services
  • Carry out any other duties appropriate to the grade of the post.

Our successful candidate

It is expected that you will be able to demonstrate:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a related discipline.
  • Working towards RTPI membership or desire to become an RTPI member.
  • Experience in a similar related role.
  • Familiar with relevant construction, health and safety legislation and risks and hazards.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Full UK Driving Licence
