The Book Operations team supports the international Commercial teams, by monitoring, supporting and testing the systems used to supply our clients with data.
Job purpose
As a Junior Manual Testing and Integration Analyst, you will work within a supportive team alongside the Testing & Integration Team Leader, the Group Operations Director and other departments to help maintain and develop the company’s quality standards. You will test bibliographic metadata feeds and Nielsen BookData systems and ensure that the data produced for the full range of our products is comprehensive and reliable, and you will liaise with and support publishers and other book industry organisations.
Role responsibilities
This role requires the successful individual to show competence across a range of skills and tasks, which will encompass the following:
- To analyse bibliographic metadata feeds supplied by publishers and other organisations prior to implementation to ensure departmental and industry standards are maintained
- To test enhancements to Nielsen BookData systems end to end as part of Agile projects, checking for system issues, data accuracy and integrity and reporting defects accurately
- To perform User Acceptance Testing for relevant areas of major new projects, and co-ordinate/facilitate the UAT for other editorial teams
- To work closely with publishers and other suppliers, not only when data quality issues and problems arise, but also proactively to help raise data standards overall
- To undertake post-go-live reviews and heathchecks of bibliographic metadata feeds
- To test and monitor the quality of non-UK input and output, feeding back issues as appropriate
- To attend relevant team and cross-team meetings
- To carry out other duties as may be required from time to time by the Team Leader
Associate attributes
- Highly proficient general PC skills
- High level attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to think logically
- Good understanding of Excel
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Highly proficient in handling different types of data file e.g. csv, xml
- Good level understanding of the ONIX standard is desirable
- Experience or understanding of the publishing industry is desirable
