The role

As a Scientific Communications Graduate with an engineering background, you will bridge the gap between technical expertise and effective communication strategies.

You'll play a pivotal role in crafting compelling narratives, creating engaging content, and communicating complex engineering concepts to diverse audiences. This position offers a unique opportunity to leverage your engineering knowledge to contribute to marketing initiatives, brand development, and outreach efforts.

  • Content Creation: Develop and produce engaging content (written, visual, and multimedia) that effectively communicates engineering concepts in a clear and accessible manner for various platforms (website, social media, presentations, etc.).
  • Campaign Management: Assist in the planning, execution, and analysis of marketing campaigns targeted at both technical and non-technical audiences, aligning messaging with company goals.
  • Technical Liaison: Collaborate with engineering teams to distill complex technical information into compelling marketing materials, ensuring accuracy and clarity.
  • Market Research: Conduct market analysis and research to identify trends, audience preferences, and competitors' strategies to inform marketing strategies.
  • Brand Representation: Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and seminars, presenting technical information in a way that resonates with diverse stakeholders.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with various departments (Engineering, Sales, Product Development) to ensure alignment of messaging and goals.

This programme will allow you to develop a range of skills, including the ability to communicate with various stakeholders. It will prepare you for a future role with the newcleo Comms team and offer you exposure to all corporate and business communications activities across the Group in support of its objective achievement, reputation enhancement and brand equity growth.

What you’ll be doing

You will spend 18 to 24 months developing yourself within our community of energy innovators supporting our exciting projects. You will be joining newcleo at an exciting time for our team as well as the wider nuclear industry, with a real collaborative, vibrant and fast-paced environment.

This will include the opportunity to experience placements across our diverse, interesting projects in the UK, Italy, and France, working on our innovative Generation IV lead-cooled fast reactor technology and mixed oxide fuel manufacturing capability.

Our graduate programme is designed to provide graduates with an opportunity to gain practical experience and develop their skills in a supportive and dynamic environment. The programme is focused on providing participants with exposure to a range of departments and responsibilities, with a view to preparing them for future leadership roles within the organisation.

As a participant in the programme, you will work closely with senior professionals to contribute to newcleo’s mission. Through our projects, you may be involved in the research, analysis, design, management, strategic planning, and implementation of various projects. You will have the opportunity to work with different teams to gain a broad understanding of our operations, culture, and values. You will work towards professional institute registration; mentored and supported by our experienced professionals.

Successful candidates will have a strong academic background in relevant fields such as science or engineering. They should possess excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively in a team-based environment.

What you will need

A 2:1 degree or above in the following preferred disciplines, though others will be considered:

  • Engineering: Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Nuclear and Chemical.
  • Science: Chemistry, Physics and Materials.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to translate technical information into engaging content for diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated interest in marketing, communications, or a related field (previous coursework, internships, or experience).
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills with the ability to multitask and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in digital marketing tools and platforms (SEO, Google Analytics, social media management, etc.) is a plus.
  • Creative thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Team player with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.

Location: Central London, Gloucester or Manchester, with travel opportunities in the UK and overseas.
