We are looking for university graduates, to join our UK & Ireland Life business in September 2022. We are seeking smart, curious and ambitious candidates who are keen to learn about the reinsurance industry and are committed to completing the actuarial examinations.
As part of our London-based life reinsurance team, you will be allocated within one of our actuarial departments. The role will give you exposure to different units within Munich Re and an opportunity to learn what we do across the life reinsurance industry. We offer training, a competitive actuarial study package and extensive support through your examinations. Munich Re also provide a flexible benefit package which includes financial and wellbeing support.
About us
At Munich Re we are dedicated to supporting and developing your career. We will support your personal needs by putting together a formal development plan, providing mentoring and giving you comprehensive training. This will include an initial Case Study Exercise, Regional Orientation and taking part in a Graduate Ideathon workshop. You will also attend an Insights workshop that will provide you with a better understanding of your traits as well as other soft skills training catered to your personal development plan. Additionally, after your initial placement, we would support further experience in alternative teams after 12-18 months.

What you'll do
Some of the things you might do as a trainee include:
- Analysis of data, including mortality rates across different populations (UK, international, or specific books of business), for use in pricing life reinsurance products and updating the branch view of changing trends
- Carrying out quotations to win new business, followed by working on the execution of deals won across different product lines
- Assisting with the production of financial projections and liability valuations for internal profit and capital reporting
- Drafting written reports, documentation and presentations for use both internally within the branch and with head office in Munich
- Contributing to the teams’ ongoing drive to improve processes to ensure we are the most efficient and competitive we can be
- Developing positive relationships with our business developers and constructing an important branch-wide network of contacts
- Playing a key role in projects involving the wider Group, supporting the UK executive committee
Who you are
- Strong numerical and analytical skills with the ability to apply judgement
- Ambitious and self-motivated, with a desire to learn
- A proficient communicator when engaged with a broad range of audiences
- Outstanding teammate who enjoys working in an open, collaborative non-hierarchical structure
- Good organisational skills to meet targets and manage leader expectations
What you'll need
- Minimum 2:1 degree achieved/predicted
- Excellent A level grades (or equivalent) with at least one numerate subject
- Degree in mathematics or other numerate subject area preferred
