In 2021, Mowi launched its flagship brand MOWI in UK, to grow the category by driving consumer desire to eat more salmon, launch new products and target new occasions. It is now one of the biggest brands in fresh fish with over £10m retail sales and 3 million meals sold last year.

    The role

    As a Brand Manager / Assistant Brand Manager (ABM), you have a hands-on, no-where-to-hide role in delivering programmes and products to inspire consumers and effectively sell more salmon.

    • You will manage consumer promotions in and out of store plus be responsible for communication for MOWI UK owned platforms.
    • You will share responsibilities for advertising creation, media and the new product development pipeline.

    You are part of a small Commercial Team and report to the UK Marketing Manager. You need to come with some experience, considerable inspiration and a balance between enjoying autonomy responsibly vs checking in for approval when required.

    Responsibilities

    Promotions

    • You are the controller of shopper marketing, point of sale (POS) and trial in and outside of store.

    A major multiples

    • You are responsible for accurately and consistently charting promotional weeks in store and ensuring there is at-fixture support through the agencies major multiples use (eg Nectar, Dunhumby).
    • You work with a specialist agency to set up and regularly review online ecommerce and support campaigns on retailers’ dot.coms.
    • Become the team expert on Brandbank and the listing of our branded skus on retailer websites,

    B consumer trial and sampling

    • Create a programme for consumer awareness plus couponing or sampling in and out of store, working with a mix of internal and external people and agencies.

    Owned social media platforms

    • To create and publish a content calendar and create assets in line with brand message and campaigns above the line.
    • Report monthly on quality and quantity of viewing and interactions.
    • Interest in other platforms eg tiktok, to potentially inspire our older target audience.

    Webmaster for mowisalmoncouk and other branded websites

    • Work with web agency to refresh web, create a calendar of events, recipes and blogs to drive web traffic and engagement.
    • Create and implement newsletter campaigns.
    • Work with web agency to review search effectiveness and efficiency and be compliant with GDPR and other web legislation.
    • Regularly check the contact inbox and answer consumer emails and queries.

    Pr internal comms

    • Work with PR agency on adhoc campaigns that can be internal or external for communication.

    Advertising

    • Work with the Marketing Manager on creative and media briefs to agencies and provide constructive feedback on concepts.
    • Assist with checking and implementation of agreed creative assets to gain senior approval on TV, print and digital advertising.

    Product development

    • Contribute to the product strategy, portfolio review and product USP. Contribute your opinion to product development.
    • Some projects will involve your end-to-end management of launching the product once agreed to first production run and preparation for presenting to the trade.

    Budget management

    • The branded budget is multi-million and requires a keen eye for best value and cost cutting where possible. Adherence to tracking commitment to spend and supplier invoicing on a regular basis.

    Qualifications

    • Scottish Nat 5, GCSE or equivalent in English and Maths
    • Business or marketing qualification preferred

    Skills

    • Methodical thinker and project planner
    • Excellent verbal communication and persuasion skills. Able to articulate preferences and rationale even if subjective
    • High standard of attention to detail
    • Comfortable with spreadsheets for budgeting/forecasting
    • Good at prioritization and multi-tasking to tight deadlines
    • Extremely fluent in English and high standard of written English correct first time, ie must be able to spell correctly

    Experience

    • Content calendar creation for social and web platforms – production, publishing and reporting of results for 6 month +, preferably FMCG
    • Packaging and/or design and progression to print (desirable)
