    Moore Barlow is seeking a Legal Applications Analyst Developer to join our central development team based in Southampton.

    What are we looking for

    This is a new role within our Applications team working with a wide range of industry leading applications and bespoke integrations. The team have grown over the last 12 months and this new role represents a further new position to supplement this successful team.

    Reporting to the Head of Applications, you will be part of a development team working to add value to our current Line of Business application stack. Moore Barlow was formed in 2020 following the merger of two leading law firms. We are in the process of integrating and refining our application stack and IT Infrastructure, and as such it’s a really exciting time to join our team. You will be directly involved in helping us deliver a more resilient and sustainable application stack as well as a continually improving user experience. Not only that, we are investing in our IT applications and infrastructure as we seek to be known as the best regional law firm to work for.

    Core applications you’ll be working with include Thomson Reuters Elite 3E, Mattersphere, Progress Databases, our SQL databases, iManage, SOAP processes etc. This role will play a key role in helping us to ensure integrations as well as the overall performance of our application stack is maintained and improved as we move users over to our new infrastructure and environments.

    You will write code which will be peer reviewed and tested by other developers within the team. We use SQL and C# .Net as core languages as well as HTML, CSS and Javascript to make dynamic user interfaces, bringing a more seamless user experience.

    You will apply system-analyst techniques and procedures, including consulting with internal users to determine hardware, software, or functional systems specifications. You will document functionality and requirements to streamline our iterative Agile development methodology.

    You will develop and take ownership of components; provide support to the tools you have implemented and work as a team driving forward an Agile development methodology.

    You will be communicating with stakeholders, writing code, documenting your work, unit testing, and supporting what you have developed. You will be delivering quality integrations that are consistent and on-time. You will be expected to work as part of a team and individually with little supervision.

    Key responsibilities

    • Understand stakeholder requirements and how they translate into legal application features
    • Write high quality code to write applications within deadlines
    • Maintain SQL and Progress databases
    • Perform unit and integration testing
    • Troubleshoot and debug applications
    • Evaluate existing applications to extend features for the benefit of legal staff
    • Develop technical documentation and handover documentation for the support team
    • Provide 3rd line application support
    • Analytical, ability to identify problems and develop automated solutions.

    Experience

    • Previous developer and analyst experience gained in professional services.
    • Relevant qualification and/or Degree in computer science or relevant field.
    • Strong C# .Net skills
    • Experience integrating REST and SOAP services
    • Demonstrable understanding of core programming principles, including design patterns.
    • Proficiency in using AGILE ticketing software such as Jira, DevOps, Trello.
    • Good development experience with SQL Server 2016 and 2012 with strong knowledge in T-SQL

    Desirable experience

    • Previous legal technology development experience within a consultancy, professional services firm and/or legal practice.
    • Experienced in web development tools e.g. (HTML, CSS, Javascript, Blazor, ASP.Net)
    • Proficiency in source control systems such as GIT / DevOps
    • Experience working within a team on projects across a legal enterprise.
    • Knowledge of MS Power platform for lo-code applications and reporting
    • Experience of data migration and data cleansing activities
    • Experience configuring “Line of Business” applications implementing processes.
