Creating our future leader
Over three years, your development with be formed by on-the-job industry experience where you’ll take on real responsibilities. To support your growth, you will have a number of guides including a line manager, a second year graduate buddy and a senior leader mentor. You will grow your career and learn skills to help you navigate off the scheme, how to build connections and develop your strengths.
The role
You’ll get to work across our categories in a series of 4 rotations across 3 years. These are designed to give you breadth and depth of knowledge, exposure to industry experts and develop a whole host of skills including core experiences of food manufacturing, project engineering and people leadership.
You will experience a variety of sites including:
- The iconic Bournville plant in Birmingham, home of Cadbury,
- Chirk, home of cocoa bean processing and drinking chocolate,
- Marlbrook, our milk processing plant, fundamental in producing our unique chocolate crumb
- The home of Bertie Bassett in Sheffield.
Rotations type
Together we build your graduate scheme around key skills required for leaders of the future. With guidance from mentors and your input, placements are chosen to suit your development and we give you the opportunity to work with a variety of teams in Engineering, Manufacturing and Research Development & Quality, rotations will usually last between 9-12 months and could include:
- Project Engineer – managing your own projects on a variety of large and smaller scale schemes. Covering end to end project management from planning, sourcing, installing, commissioning, and reviewing performance.
- Process Engineer – continuous improvement of current and new processes to maximise the productivity in our manufacturing sites. Researching production methods and tools to ensure that we stay ahead, producing proposals and recommendations.
- Research & Development Engineer - working in our global centre of excellence for chocolate research and development, you will support the development of new, exciting and innovative products for our manufacturing sites around Europe and across the world. Working with leading scientists and engineers to provide engineering expertise to ensure effective, best in class production of our products.
- Production Line Management – you will manage a team responsible for one (or more) of our manufacturing lines, to deliver against safety, quality, cost, sustainability and morale metrics to deliver the product safely, at the correct quality and cost to the marketplace.
- Cross functional role – experience the wider business during your graduate scheme you will have the opportunity to dive into roles which make our company tick.
- Sites: You will have the opportunity to work at our multiple UK based sites working with chocolate, biscuits, and candy!

In order for you to get the most out of our graduate scheme we require flexibility of location between placements within the UK (Bourneville, Chirk, Marlbrook and Sheffield).
Candidate requirements
2.1 degree or equivalent (predicted or achieved) in one of the following disciplines
- Mechanical Engineering
- Electrical and Automation Engineering
- Chemical Engineering
- Or a related Manufacturing/Engineering degree
Must have a strong interest in FMCG (Fast Moving Consumer Goods)
Starting salary
- £33,000 plus £2,000 sign-on bonus
