At Mercedes AMG High Performance Powertrains our highly talented and ambitious team are responsible for the design, manufacture, testing and racing of Formula 1 power units and are pioneering in Advanced Technologies, transferring F1 technologies and know-how into high performance automotive projects and products such as the Mercedes AMG Project One and the Mercedes-Benz Vision EQXX.
In 2024, we took action to address the underrepresentation of women in engineering by launching our Accelerating Women in Engineering Programme. This initiative offered talented women engineers a unique opportunity to gain paid, one-year work experience, immersing them in diverse areas of engineering within Formula 1 and Advanced Technologies. Participants have the chance to collaborate with some of the world’s top engineers, gaining valuable skills and exposure to cutting-edge technologies.
We are delighted to announce that we will run this programme again inviting the next cohort of 5 talented women engineers to join us in September 2025.
We are launching our application process today, with the programme commencing in September 2025.
The 12-month programme will offer
- Full-time Work Experience in our Engineering facility
- A mentor assigned to each participant on the programme
- Women’s Engineering Society membership
- Skills workshops throughout the year
- Opportunity to join our HPP Women’s Network and Women in Engineering Project Team

Criteria
- Our Accelerating Women in Engineering Programme has been created for women who are studying for, or are in receipt of a 2:1 degree or above in an Engineering discipline, and are able to commit to a 1-year paid work experience starting September 2025
- Available to attend our Accelerating Women in Engineering Programme Workshop on Friday 25th April 2025
- An excellent understanding of engineering first principles
- Curious and tenacious individuals who thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Practical, “hands-on” experience to complement your academic studies
- Excellent communication skills
- Self-motivated, thorough engineers that are adaptable, creative, and innovative
- The courage to challenge and desire to be challenged, to expand your technical knowledge and skills

- If shortlisted you will be invited to attend our Workshop & Assessment Day which will take place on Friday 25th April 2025 at our factory in Brixworth, Northamptonshire. At our Accelerating Women in Engineering Programme Workshop, you will gain insight into F1 & Advanced Technologies at HPP. Take part in activities such as speed networking, a tour of the factory, interactive practical group activities and hearing from inspiring role models. We will provide further information regarding the structure of the day in invitations.
- We will facilitate an alternative Accelerating Women in Engineering Programme Workshop virtually for shortlisted applicants who are unable to attend the in-person workshop
