Purpose of role

We are currently seeking an intern to work within the Engineering team at McLaren Composites Technology Centre based in Sheffield.

The successful candidate will support the engineering and business systems team to plan, implement and control changes to design, manufacturing, project and facility workstreams.

Principal accountabilities

  • Identifying, planning, undertaking and supporting development activities to improve composite manufacturing processes
  • Optimise process and material flow, identify and mitigate bottlenecks through technical innovation
  • Support production activities, including process or technical fault finding, and respond to product quality concerns with containment and countermeasure actions
  • Record, process, analyse and interpret complex process data to improve process knowledge, drive technical development, and resolve problems in a robust manner

Knowledge, skills and experience

  • Excellent Microsoft Excel and Project skills
  • Familiar with using CAD packages would be advantageous (eg. CATIA, Solidworks, AutoCAD)
  • Understanding of composite materials and applications advantageous
  • Understanding of practical problem-solving techniques
  • Understanding of lean manufacturing principles
  • Good communicator, both in writing and spoken, and able to develop relationships with team members.
