Purpose of role
We are currently seeking an intern to work within the Engineering team at McLaren Composites Technology Centre based in Sheffield.
The successful candidate will support the engineering and business development team, primarily to develop manufacturing & CAPEX layout plans and work with the process engineering team to plan, implement and control changes to design, manufacturing, project, and facility workstreams.
Principal Accountabilities
- Ensuring facility layout is a true representation of manufacturing shop floor
- Ensuring all future project requirements (CAPEX) are captured in timelines
- Strong interface between engineering and manufacturing
- Responsible for weekly progress reporting to senior management
- Control & management of the change process
- Project KPI development and creation for new product introduction (NPI)
- Identifying, planning, undertaking, and supporting development activities to improve composite manufacturing processes
- Optimise process and material flow, identify and mitigate bottlenecks through technical innovation
- Support production activities, including process or technical fault finding, and respond to product quality concerns with containment and countermeasure actions
- Record, process, analyse and interpret complex process data to improve process knowledge, drive technical development, and resolve problems in a robust manner
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Excellent Microsoft Excel and Project skills
- Experience in auto CAD / solid works
- PowerBI experience preferred
- Understanding of composite materials and applications advantageous
- Understanding of practical problem-solving techniques
- Understanding of lean manufacturing principles
- Good communicator, both in writing and spoken, and able to develop relationships with team members.
