About the role
The current vacancy is within Malin Abram - the business unit within the group dedicated to heavy lift engineering and transportation. As a discipline, this requires motivated individuals dedicated to solving unique and complex engineering challenges to support major industries around the globe.
Current projects provide engineering support for major defence, nuclear, oil and gas, and offshore renewables clients. Malin Abram engineers are regularly engaged in project execution in locations across Europe and the Middle East, relying on their strong technical and management skills to coordinate multidisciplinary teams of subcontractors and effectively deliver projects for our clients. Projects typically require the coordination of multinational teams of personnel and major plant equipment, and applicants to this role should be able to demonstrate effective organisational and communication skills in both an office and industrial setting.
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Graduate Naval Architect to join our team. If you are passionate, have a strong engineering background (preferably a marine-related discipline), and want to be part of a dynamic team, we need to hear from you!
What you'll do
As a Graduate Naval Architect your key responsibilities in this role will be:
- Delivering engineering solutions in areas such as:
- Coaster/Barge transportation engineering,
- Naval architecture studies, including stability analysis, mooring analysis, structural analysis etc.
- Project Engineering functions, including but not limit to engagement with external clients, suppliers, and subcontractors in the planning and execution of projects, and management of project resources.
- Providing technical advice to the commercial team to ensure accurate costing of bids and enquiries
- Performance in line with company QAHSE requirements
- In the performance of your role, you will be required to make use of engineering software packages including, but not limited to Autohydro, GHS, Strand7, Orcaflex, Autocad. Training in the use of these programs will be provided as necessary
- Attend Site Visits, Meetings and Operations both within the UK and abroad
- Attending Training Days and Site Visits as required to progress from role of Graduate to a position of greater responsibility
- Any other tasks or duties outside your normal work as the Company may reasonably require
What you'll need
To be considered for this role you should have:
- Minimum 2nd Class degree BEng or higher in relevant engineering discipline
- A marine/naval architecture background is advantageous, but not a requirement
- Ability to gain Baseline Personnel Security Standard
- Right to work in the United Kingdom
- Preferably hold a full, clean, UK driver’s license but not a requirement
