We are seeking an enthusiastic Engineering graduate to join our Team at Lucy Electric.
This is a great opportunity for a motivated self-starter who is looking to learn, build their knowledge and work closely with others to make a difference within the Engineering function.
This is a 2-year fixed term contract where a graduate will be taken on a development journey through the key departments and capabilities of Engineering our portfolio of products.
Job context
The graduate will be on a development journey across the key departments and capabilities involved in delivering Lucy Group products. This journey covers; Switchgear Design, Prototype and Testing, Manufacturing, Field Services, Contract Engineering, Software Development and Sustainability.
Candidates will also be expected to work within one of our international locations for a short period to help develop an understanding and capability of operating in an international context.
In addition to developing technical skills and experience, candidates will be supported to develop their all-round business, leadership and personal effectiveness skills so that they are equipped to engage in key organisational projects and initiatives.
We require the successful graduate to get stuck in and gain exposure to all aspects of Engineering within the Company.
Job dimensions
This role will transition through different teams within the Engineering department, covering all areas, as well as working with other departments throughout the Company. You will take part in specific training courses as part of each rotation, these are listed on the program outline and will be invaluable to your personal development.

Key accountabilities
These will include the activities below, including other accountabilities as appropriate
- Process Design Engineering
- Carry out a range of activities under the guidance of more senior colleagues to support the analysis of information, the specification of the methods, process steps, and the plant, machinery and equipment required to design and continuously improve manufacturing or materials processes and process systems.
- Engineering Standards Specification
- Carry out a range of activities under the guidance of more senior colleagues to support the drafting of engineering standards and specifications and the evaluation of the effectiveness of those standards.
- Engineering Solutions Design
- Contribute to the development of and implement feasibility testing of proposed engineering solutions to provide feedback and data to validate the design.
- Engineering Drawings
- Create engineering drawings to support the communication, evaluation, and implementation of engineering solutions.
- Solutions Analysis
- Interpret data and identify possible answers. Involves navigating a wide variety of processes, procedures and precedents.
- Design and Conceptualisation
- Research and interpret data, trends, and benchmarks relevant to digital products/services design.
- Personal Capability Building
- Develop own capabilities by participating in assessment and development planning activities as well as formal and informal training and coaching; gain or maintain external professional accreditation where relevant to improve performance and fulfill personal potential. Maintain an understanding of relevant technology, external regulation, and industry best practices through ongoing education, attending conferences, and reading specialist media.
- Plant and Machinery
- Design and Installation Install plant and machinery to the agreed design under supervision to meet specified operational requirements, organizational engineering standards, and regulatory standards.
- Data Collection and Analysis
- Collate and analyze data using pre-set tools, methods and formats. Involves working independently.
- Portfolio Management
- Deliver small project workstreams, carrying out specified project activities within defined time and quality parameters and ensuring adherence to the prescribed project management methodology.
- Improvement / Innovation
- Implement improvements and provide feedback on them. Use change management systems and protocols to provide routine supportive services
Qualifications, Experience & Skills
Minimum Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience
- Engineering Degree, ideally 2:1 or above
- Manages complexity; analyse complex situations and unpicks information to effectively solve problems.
