We are seeking an IT Systems Engineer with some amount of professional experience in monitoring large IT Networks.

This may suit someone early on in their IT Career, perhaps a Helpdesk Analyst or Support Engineer looking to make the jump to a full on Engineering role.

We will also consider raw graduates, early careers and college leavers, and also EX HM Forces Military leavers.
It’s a big role on a good team of people, which can be done predominantly remotely with the odd trip to Havant in Hampshire now and then.

You will be involved with

  • Research, design, development, and modifications to enterprise-wide systems and applications software.
  • You’ll be Involved in planning of the systems and development deployment as well as being responsible for meeting software compliance standards.
  • You will evaluate the interface between hardware and software, operational requirements, and characteristics of overall system.
  • You will handle and document testing and maintenance of system corrections.

What will I be doing?

You’ll be working with a team of IT professionals, specifically monitoring large IT systems for Lockheed Martin customers comprising over 2500 nodes and devices.

Required skills, qualifications and experience

  • Degree/HND in Computer Science or related subject, or equivalent industry experience of around at least 2 years
  • System Management experience within a large, distributed IT environment
  • Experience in a Customer Service Environment
  • Basic understanding of Linux and Windows Servers - AIX, RHEL 7, Ubuntu, CentOS OS's, Windows 2016,2019, Windows SQL, System monitoring
  • Working knowledge of Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) practices for Systems Management.
  • A keen interest in technology with a willingness to learn
  • Clear, focused and effective verbal and written communication.
  • Good IT skills in a range of SW packages.
  • Ability to develop individual approach to complex problems and proactively engage with peer reviewers.
  • Ability to prioritise own tasking to meet programme needs.-

Desirable (Skills can be taught/learnt)

  • SolarWinds SAM, SPLUNK, Ansible & Service Now (SNOW)
  • Regular Expression & SQL Query Language
  • UNIX and Windows scripting (Powershell/Perl/Bash)
  • Networking (MIBs, SNMP Traps, logs)
  • Experience of ITM/Zabbix/Oracle/SNMP monitoring would be an advantage.
