The role
ETEL is a large and complex business encompassing a range of familiar retail brands such as Kwik Fit and Fettle, as well as tyre wholesale & distribution via Stapleton’s. It also includes Head Office functions such as Finance, People and Technology.
Within the ETEL ecosystem, Fettle, is a rapidly expanding bike repair and service business that is dedicated to promoting sustainable transportation and making cycling more accessible for everyone. Fettle is modern, accessible, convenient and hassle-free and bases its success on working collaboratively, continuously learning, and always putting customers first.
Reporting to the Retail Technology Manager, the Retail Technology Technician will work predominantly with the Fettle business to lead the support and enhancement of key technologies and technology processes and their interactions with the wider Retail and ETEL systems.
The successful candidate will be a key member of the Retail Technology Solutions team. They can expect to be working closely with other technical teams such as Architecture & Data Analytics, Transformation & Project Delivery and Operations to ensure the future direction of Fettle technology and that it supports and enables both the Fettle business strategies and the overall ETEL Technology Strategy.
ETEL Head Office is in Letchworth and Fettle Head Office is in London. All members of the Technology team are “Remote Workers”, working in a hybrid capacity at home, the office or any other relevant location, depending on the needs of the business. Candidates should expect to visit ETEL and Fettle locations occasionally as the role requires, however there is no ‘quota’ to fulfil.
Key accountabilities
- Support and maintain the current IT systems to ensure they are operational, up to date and performing as required.
- Provide ongoing support and troubleshooting for technology-related issues.
- Act as a liaison between technical teams and business stakeholders to ensure clear communication and understanding.
- Gather requirements from business units and translate them into technical specifications.
- Identify opportunities where technology can enhance business processes, products, and services.
- Lead initiatives to innovate and improve business operations through technology.
- Support the design, build, testing and implementation of technology solutions that meet business needs.
- Support the integration of modern technologies into existing business systems and processes.
- Develop and deliver training programs to ensure business users can effectively use new technologies.
- Identify and mitigate risks associated with technology implementations.
Skills and experience
- An appreciation of IT systems, software development, data management, and cybersecurity.
- A good understanding of relevant business processes and operations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to convey technical concepts in a clear and understandable manner to non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to align technology initiatives with business goals and measure their impact.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with data analysis tools and techniques.
- Understanding of project management methodologies and tools an advantage
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic setting.
- Technical degree preferred but relevant experience, in lieu of degree, will be considered
