What your traineeship will look like
The Traineeship will be over a period of 2 years.
As a Trainee Solicitor at Jones Whyte, you will be supporting fee earners in the work required for cases whilst also handling a small workload yourself. You will be liaising with clients and 3rd parties via phone, email or in person, preparing legal documentation, attending training sessions and conducting legal research. As a Trainee you will have the direct support of experienced Solicitors, Senior Solicitors, Associates and supervising Partners. Additionally, all departments benefit from our dedicated Legal Support teams.
The role demands you to be proactive and focused, with the ability to build relationships with clients and co-workers. You should be a forward-thinking individual with a drive to do the best for our clients.

Key responsibilities
- Liaising with and providing administration support for solicitors and case handlers
- Responding to enquiries (email, telephone and letters)
- Providing continued communication throughout the process
- Working with the online case management system, keeping records up to date
- Preparing legal documentation
- Dealing with client enquiries both face to face and via telephone
- Dealing with emails to and from clients and other 3rd parties
- Conducting legal research
- Attending training sessions and internal events
Requirements
- 2:1 or higher Scots Law, or an accelerated Scots Law degree
- Diploma in Legal Practice
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency with Windows, Microsoft Office
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to multi-task
- Attention to detail
Desirable but not essential
- Experience working in a Law firm
- Experience working with a case management system
