Hybrid working is potentially available, depending on the area and manager. JLR is a multi-site business and you’ll be required to spend time working with different departments at several locations.

JLR’s graduate programmes are not eligible for sponsorship and therefore, we will only accept applications for this programme from candidates with the unrestricted right to work in the UK for an indefinite period (if you are on a tier 4 student visa or a graduate route visa you are not eligible to apply to this programme).

Product engineering: future propulsion systems graduate programme

Fossil fuels have dominated automotive propulsion since the introduction of cars, but our priorities are evolving as we move toward the future. Before the end of the decade Range Rover, Discovery and Defender brands will offer pure‑electric options, while Jaguar will be entirely electric - and you have the opportunity to be part of this journey.

As a Future Propulsion Systems graduate, you’ll learn what it takes to deliver the high-quality propulsion systems of the future. You’ll work in a range of different environments, using a mixture of engineering tools such as Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) and Computer Aided Design (CAD) in addition to data analysis techniques, while closely partnering customer groups.

You’ll take a systems view of the entire delivery landscape for commodities and systems, working closely with our programme managers, purchasing, manufacturing, external engineering service providers and Jaguar engineering to create and deliver final completed products to quality, cost and time targets. We’ll look to you for new ideas and fresh perspectives on everything we do – we want to be actively challenged in how we think and what we do.

During the two-year long programme, you’ll rotate through a variety of placements to help you develop your technical knowledge at either component or system level, touching on everything from design to the operation of fully electric propulsion systems. Along the way, you'll gain a full understanding of conceptualisation, design, development, optimisation and delivery for world-class components and systems. We’ll try to match your placement with your skill set and interests, and you’ll be supported by a mentor every step of the way

Below you can find out more about the teams that you could be working in. Which team you’re placed in will depend on your personal preferences and business needs.

Engineering Operations (EO) team

Engineering Operations underpins technical innovation and product delivery with modern tools and processes, and specialist technical services. We deliver world-class products thanks to our diverse team who work on everything from project management and data analytics through to building and testing prototypes. We’re involved at every stage of the engineering process, helping JLR to transform the way we engineer and deliver our products.

As part of your programme, you could find yourself working in one of our Prototype Build or Test Teams – collaborating on business-critical projects and working with state-of-the art technology. You’ll have the opportunity to take on different responsibilities that match your skill set and interests, and you’ll be supported by a mentor every step of the way. The work you do in Engineering Operations will have a real impact on our product development cycle and places you at the forefront of exciting new technologies in the propulsion space.
