A two-year programme for people who enjoy working with others to figure out challenges and provide technological solutions.

What you'll do

Your HSBC journey will be built upon - and thrive with - your skills.

We know how important it is to have the right skills, both for your future and ours. By building this skillset now, we’ll help you develop the agility to keep learning new skills throughout your career.

Over the course of two years, you’ll get to:

  • Join our community of Business Analysts, who are masters in collaboration and play a pivotal role in bridging the gap between business needs and technological solutions
  • Work with Subject Matter Experts and meet with non-technical people from our banking business lines to understand their needs and translate them into technical requirements for our teams to deliver
  • Work in an agile way, taking on new information as it emerges, analysing it and drawing out the insights, then using those insights to inform a project as it progresses
  • Help our Business, Product and Engineering teams bring new ideas to life. That could mean designing innovative technical solutions to diverse business challenges, rolling out change programmes, or ensuring quality and performance

Who you are

We welcome students from all degree disciplines and backgrounds, particularly those with a passion for technology.

It takes a broad range of skills to be successful at HSBC. We're looking forward to seeing the mix of skills you’ve learned so far, and hearing about the unique perspective that you’ll bring to our teams. We’ll help you learn everything else.

To join us on this programme, you’ll need to be:

  • Intellectually curious and constantly looking for new ways to hone your skills
  • Eager to contribute and take responsibility for your work and outcomes
  • A natural collaborator who’s always happy to speak up, enjoys building relationships and sharing ideas
  • A strong analytical thinker with a solid base of tech skills that you’re keen to apply to real-world situations
  • Communicative and resilient, taking changes in your stride and quickly adapting to new situations

What you'll learn

We’ll help you develop the technical skills most relevant to your role. We’ll also provide plenty of opportunities to advance your non-technical skills, like relationship management and collaboration, that will help you move your career forward successfully.

During your time on the programme, you’ll:

  • Gain and grow technical skills in gathering requirements and project management, data gathering and preparation, process modelling and automation, and dashboard and wireframe development
  • Develop your fundamental Business Analyst skills and knowledge in areas like data movement, governance, management, regulatory and MI reporting
  • Hone your communication skills – particularly in helping non-technical people understand technology – by developing strategy presentations for senior business stakeholders
  • Have plenty of other opportunities to develop your skills, and people to support you along the way, ensuring that you’re well prepared for the future
