HS2 is Britain’s new high-speed railway connecting London and Birmingham. It is the first new intercity railway to be built north of London in more than a century.

    We have a Digital Engineering graduate opportunity available based in London. The two-year rotational graduate programme will provide you with the opportunity to stretch and challenge yourself across various placements. This programme is designed to enable you to get as much experience as possible across the business, to support your personal development. These roles offer the chance to undertake placements, attend events and participate in activities at other HS2 offices/sites and therefore some travel will be required.

    The digital engineering team

    The Digital Engineering team are in the Rail Directorate and are one of the functions within the Integration Team that reports directly to the Chief Railway Officer. Digital Engineering provide technical leadership for across the HS2 programme. Its main objective is to provide the framework, governance, systems (such as Asset Information Management, Geospatial (GIS) and CAD), processes and promote the skills necessary to enable the maximum use of BIM and digital engineering techniques to improve design management, assurance, and programme integration.

    Whether it’s Information Management working directly with the contracting supply chain, or delivering strategic client and project focused solutions as part of the Strategy or Implementation team, or Systems (such as Asset Information Management, Geospatial (GIS) and CAD the team oversees and delivers a variety of activities across not only the digital engineering team but other directorates too, we would expect our graduates to be involved across these portfolios of work as well as spending time in each to gain a better understanding of the wider digital engineering discipline.

    As a Digital Engineering graduate, you will be exposed to strategic and contractual subjects that not only define the ways of working within the team but also how the team implements those tools or decisions across the wider organisation.

    As a graduate you will be 

    • Supporting our Digital Engineering Teams with project specific actions related to supply chain and project objectives.
    • Supporting our Digital Twin programme
    • Working with Systems and Digital tools for BIM and 3D model assurance.
    • Supporting Digital Engineering Programme and Project management for bespoke projects and tasks supporting the wider business.
    • Working with the wider Integration Team to support activities such as the PIU and Handovers Strategy.
    • Supporting Information Management for assurance and governance from contractors

    Knowledge

    • On track to achieve or already hold a minimum of a 2:2 bachelor’s degree in any discipline.
