With three-week programmes running in the summer and a two-week programme running in the winter, our vacation schemes are the perfect way to take the first steps into your journey as a lawyer.
You'll be treated like one of the team and experience the recognition and support you’ll get as a Hogan Lovells trainee – getting involved in major client projects across a range of practices and jurisdictions. We’ll give you an authentic, challenging and rewarding experience, so you can get a real taste of your career ahead. Whether you find yourself drafting documents, attending client meetings, researching cases or even in court, you'll be guided by our experts and working alongside similarly talented and ambitious potential lawyers.
At the end of the scheme, having experienced exactly what it’s like to work as part of our team, advise our clients and develop skills on real projects – you’ll have an automatic interview to earn a training contract with us.
Who can apply?
If you’re in your penultimate or final year of study, or if you've already graduated, you’re eligible to apply. It’s the same for both our summer and winter vacation schemes.
Application process
We look for a strong academic record. You’ll have excellent results from GCSE (or equivalent) onwards, and a good 2:1 or above (or equivalent). Commercial acumen is vital too. You’ll need to get to grips not only with the world of law, but with the business worlds our clients operate in. Rigorous attention to detail won’t faze you. Nor will the pressure of complex work, deadlines or putting in the extra hours to deliver the most professional job possible.
Another important consideration is that we review applications as they come in. We don’t wait until the application deadline to screen and interview candidates. We advise you get your application to us early; however, make sure you get your application form right.
