Collaborate with clients to help them make better tax decisions whilst starting to develop your career.

    Programme overview

Tax affects every aspect of our lives (for example allowing schools, hospitals, banks and insurers to operate) and laws are continuously evolving. We help local and global organisations, from individuals and start-ups to influential multinationals companies, manage every element of their tax affairs and tax risk policies.

A continuous focus on innovation in tax has transformed the way we support businesses – working collaboratively with clients and using agile methods to develop tailored solutions, faster than ever before. Our integrated team of technologists and tax professionals bring fresh perspectives to longstanding operational problems facing tax.

    • Learning about EY and our Tax offering.
    • Working towards a potential graduate opportunity after university.

    Eligibility for applying

If you’re in your penultimate year, or if you’re already in your final year but will be doing a one-year Master’s degree, or taking a gap year, this internship is for you.

We operate an open access policy, meaning we don’t screen out applications on your academic performance alone. You will however, need to be working towards an honours degree in any subject, have a minimum of grade 4/C GCSE (or equivalent) in English Language and Maths, or in your home language if you do not hold English Language GCSE, and three A-levels/Five Highers (or equivalent) to be eligible to apply.

We welcome applications from all academic backgrounds and are looking for individuals who will succeed at EY in the desired role and future qualifications, therefore throughout our recruitment process your academic performance will be considered against your online assessment scores to determine your suitability for an EY role.

We are also proud to partner with RARE recruitment, so that your application can be processed in the context of your socio-economic background. This allows us to give you the maximum credit for your achievements, assessing whether you have overachieved in light of your personal circumstances.

    Eligibility for visa sponsorship

Please see visa sponsorship details below for this programme, for locations: London, Luton, and Reading.

The EY summer internship and industrial placement programmes are specifically designed as a pathway to our Graduate programme within the same business area and location. If you require EY to sponsor a work visa after university graduation we can accept applications for this vacancy on a limited basis. EY’s ability to make an offer of employment is subject to the UK immigration rules in force at the relevant time.

This position is one that meets the current thresholds required for sponsorship by EY for the Graduate position.  Please note, however, that EY has a set number of Certificate of Sponsorship applications that can be made each year. If you require sponsorship and this limit is reached and/or UK immigration rules are not capable of being met, this will prevent EY from being able to sponsor you and we will not be able to progress your application.

For the Graduate programme, we can sponsor using the Skilled Worker visa New Entrant salary threshold for this particular vacancy. Your eligibility for the New Entrant rate must subsist for the entire duration of the Graduate programme.

The criteria to be eligible for the New Entrant rate are (subject to change by the UK Government): you’re under 26 on the date you apply; you’re currently in the UK on a student visa studying at bachelor’s degree level or above; you’re currently in the UK on a Graduate visa and your total stay in the UK by the end of your EY Graduate programme plus the date you applied for your Graduate visa will be less than 4 years. Each visa application is unique to the individual and there may be other criteria which mean you are not eligible for visa sponsorship. EY will assess your individual circumstances and we may be required to withdraw your application or offer of employment if EY cannot sponsor your visa.

Please see visa sponsorship details below for this programme, for locations: Aberdeen, Birmingham, Bristol, Cambridge, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds, Manchester, and Newcastle.

The EY summer internship and industrial placement programmes are specifically designed as a pathway to our Graduate programme within the same business area and location. We’re unable to offer visa sponsorship for the Graduate programme aligned to this internship due to UK Home Office regulations. Therefore, we cannot accept applications for this role from those who would require EY sponsorship after university graduation.

We have a variety of other summer internships and industrial placements that lead to a Graduate position, complete with the support for visa sponsorship where needed. We encourage you to explore these opportunities and find the one that aligns with your career aspirations. You can find out which vacancies are able to support applications from candidates who require visa sponsorship by looking at the individual vacancy pages.

    Removing barriers

We’re proud of our heritage on driving diversity and social mobility across the professional services industry, and in 2016, we removed the requirement to have minimum UCAS points or a degree classification to make an application to EY. We are passionate about giving candidates a fair and consistent recruitment process and are proud of our long-standing partnership with RARE who help us assess applications using contextual recruitment.

And, whilst some academic qualifications will still be considered (check programme information for more details), it’s no longer a barrier. We also firmly believe that every candidate should have the opportunity to demonstrate their potential in our selection process which is why we use our leading EY Strengths Framework that focuses on your individual strengths.

EY recognises that it has clear obligations towards all its people and the community at large to ensure that partners, our people, and job applicants are afforded equal opportunities to enter employment and progress within the firm. As an employer committed to establishing an inclusive environment free from unlawful discrimination, the firm promotes the fair treatment of staff members and job applicants regardless of their sex, gender identity, marital or civil partnership status, race, ethnic or national origin, disability, religion, sexual orientation, age or pregnancy/maternity status.

    RARE Statement

We are proud to have partnered with RARE, so that your application can be assessed in the context of your socio-economic background. This allows us to better understand and give you the maximum possible credit for your achievements, assessing whether you have overachieved in light of your wider personal circumstances.

If you’re happy to supply us with this information, you will be asked to complete a short information form, as part of your application form. You can also choose to opt out of sharing this information. Please note, supplying us with this information will not negatively impact your application.

    Strengths framework

Our core EY strengths framework plays a significant role during the recruitment process as it helps to level the playing field for all candidates. We all have individual strengths and by using this model, it allows us to understand what you do well, what energises you, and how your strengths can help you to learn, flourish and develop as leaders.
