Law is unusual in the modern world in that it still has a clearly defined career path. From the moment you come to us on a training contract, we can support you in your development, giving you the tools you’ll need to become a fully fledged trainee and hopefully progress through right until you become a partner.

That means giving you early exposure to real work for real clients. It means equipping you with the skills to be a good lawyer while developing your commercial acumen and leadership potential. In short, it means investing in your talent and giving you access to some of the best training, development and support in the industry - not just as a new graduate but throughout your career.

We’re always looking for new talent and look forward to hearing from you. You can apply either for a training contract or a place on our Summer Vacation Scheme. The application process covers the same ground whether you apply and complete the Vacation Scheme or apply directly and complete a one day assessment for a training contract.

Whichever you apply for, you can only make one application per academic year and all applications must be submitted online.

True, you will need a strong academic background and proven ability to apply your intellect to complex problems. But that's just the start. Eversheds Sutherland trainees need to be multi-faceted people who combine extreme professionalism with genuine approachability and real personality.

While many trainees have studied law, we welcome applications from all degree disciplines. The reason is simple. The trainees from a non-law background bring a wealth of alternative experience that can only benefit a growing and diverse organisation like ours. You may have a background in business, a degree in an exacting science, a knowledge of foreign languages or even a record of holding positions of responsibility.

However, whatever your background - and our trainees are an incredibly diverse community of people - you will need to demonstrate a number of other skills and aptitudes to succeed as part of our team:

  Have you achieved or are you on track to achieving 128 UCAS points (new UCAS tariff points) (ABB) at A-Level (or equivalent), a 2.1 degree (or equivalent) in any degree discipline and a Pass (or above) at law school ( GDL and /or LPC/SQE) ?
