About the role

As a Graduate Inspection Engineer, you will work in our Utilities & Renewables sector to assist our team in delivering our transmission/distribution tower inspection and WTG blade inspection services. You will be a key member of the team and a key contact internally for project updates and can support the team with all internal or external requests related to iHawk and the services we provide. You will own the reporting process, including data management, assigning of work, reporting and progressing to approval of reports with constructive feedback to internal and external providers and ensuring the gold standard reports are delivered as per agreed time frames.

As a Graduate Inspection Engineer, we expect you to always be on the lookout for new and improved ways of working, suggesting and testing improvements to our software, documentation and processes.

Responsibilities

  • A large focus and key element of the role is the reviewing and quality assure of inspection data, assessing defects against defined defect standards and completing inspection reports using Cyberhawk’s cloud-based visual asset management solution, iHawk. Assets will primarily include steel transmission/distribution towers, WTG rotor blades, and other assets as required. Full training will be given.
  • Edit photographs and video footage.
  • Write technical reports in accordance with client guidelines of Anomaly Acceptance Criteria or equivalent.
  • Assist the Technical Manager ensuring the timely and high-quality delivery of projects.
  • Support the Technical Manager in client meetings providing project updates and supporting with technical queries
  • Supporting the team in managing client requests via our iHawk Service Desk and liaising with clients to help understand and effectively communicate their requests to the relevant people in Cyberhawk. Covering both OHL, WTG and Substation elements of iHawk.
  • Support with new processes (New software development, R&D, documentation, project tracking etc).
  • Assist with the organisation, planning and delivery of projects providing updates as the project progresses.
  • Deliver presentations of inspection results when required.
  • Demonstrate risk awareness and significance of safety-critical management systems.
  • Any other reasonable duties as required

  • Relevant Industry experience or Engineering Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar
  • Excellent attention to detail, communication, and time management skills

  • Ability to work both as part of a team and individually
  • Be able to access the Ratho headquarters on a day-to-day basis whenever required

  • Right to work in the UK with passport and full driving license

Preferred

  • Experience of image processing/manipulation – Adobe Lightroom or similar
  • Have excellent IT skills – MS Office, creating file structures, data management and transfers - SFTP
  • Knowledge of the Transmission & Distribution sector and/or Wind Turbine Blades
  • 2+ years of experience in a similar engineering discipline
