Starting salary:  £28k (£45k to £55k after successful completion of the scheme and promotion)

What could I be involved in as a Human Resources (HR) Fast Streamer?  

As an HR Fast Streamer you’ll make a valuable contribution to the departments you support, and to the lives of the individuals who make up our diverse workforces across the UK.  

Effective Human Resources (HR) are essential to the smooth running of the Civil Service. It’s fast-paced high-profile work in a hugely complex environment often influenced by national and world events.    

This scheme offers you a breadth of opportunities across different departments. Working within both strategic and operational HR, you’ll experience different regions, cultures and working environments. You’ll grow your knowledge and expertise across a range of projects covering areas like HR business partnering, organisational design and development, reward and recognition, employee relations, policy development, training analysis and design, and talent management. 

Working closely with senior leaders, you’ll have opportunities to influence policy, engage and network with a variety of stakeholders and build the portfolio of skills needed to become an HR leader.   

Growing your knowledge, skills and experience 

On this scheme, you’ll study towards gaining a Postgraduate Diploma in HR Management. You’ll also get CIPD accreditation. The CIPD is the recognised professional association for HR. While you’ll need to complete some requirements of the course in your own time, we’ll support you to gain your professional qualification with 5 days of paid study leave per placement, and paid time off for exams and module lectures.  

You’ll have support from your Line Manager and Talent Coach to ensure you’re acquiring the right learning to enable your development. We also offer learning opportunities across the Fast Stream Core Curriculum, including pre-booked courses, e-learning, post-specific learning and action learning sets.

  • Eligibility to work in the UK. 
  • A 2:2 or higher (or be expecting to achieve this) in any degree subject, including degree apprenticeships
