As a graduate engineer, you’ll have the opportunity to work in a cutting-edge and fast-paced design environment, collaborating with – and learning from – the multiple disciplines across the company. The role

You will work in in the Civil Engineering department, on a variety of projects across a range of industries. We will give you responsibility for contributing to designs, including drawing work, calculations and report writing. You will also have the opportunity to visit live sites and participate in meetings with design teams and clients.

We are an integrated company, so you’ll work closely with other disciplines, as part of a team that’s driving efficiency, innovation and effectiveness in design solutions.

About you

We’d like you to be proactive, curious, and excited by problem-solving. You’ll need good analytical ability and to be able and willing to work well with others.

You will have

  • Real enthusiasm for engineering design. You’ll be keen to work in a challenging design environment on the civil elements of projects.
  • Great interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team.
  • A good theoretical knowledge of hydraulics, geotechnics, structural principles, and relevant design standards.
  • Highly effective problem-solver who takes an organised and systematic approach to solving design problems.
  • Willingness to learn modelling software, including AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Interest in emerging technologies and innovations in the construction industry.
  • Excellent spoken and written communication skills in English.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word and Excel).

Experience and education

  • Have a relevant Civil Engineering degree with a minimum of an upper-second class with honours from a recognised institution (Master’s preferred but not essential).
  • Relevant experience of working in either a design office or directly within the construction industry, for example through an industrial placement, preferred but not essential.
  • Interest in progressing towards chartership with the Institution of Civil Engineers or an equivalent institution.
