About us

Blick Rothenberg are a leading tax, audit, accountancy and business advisory firm founded on personal integrity and technical expertise. Based in Covent Garden, London we employ approximately 800 people. Many of our clients are part of substantial groups with strong international connections. Others are SMEs (small and medium-sized enterprises) operated by their owner-managers, High Net Worth individuals, professional firms and charities.

Blick Rothenberg is committed to improving the diversity of its workforce across all levels by building a culture that’s genuinely inclusive, a culture where everyone can fulfil their potential and can be themselves.

We seek to attract smart talented people from the widest talent pool as well as those that reflect the diversity of the communities we live and work in.

BR supports flexible working (BRighter working) and aims to allow you to balance your life with the needs of colleagues and the high expectations of our clients.

Our values are our motivations

We have four key values, collaborative, authentic, respect and dynamic and these values are at the heart of everything we do. We are looking for people who also believe in these drivers as we work together to achieve success for both our colleagues and our clients alike.

The role

Our Private Client department early careers role means that you will join the firm as an Associate and will gain a wide range of practical experience across UK tax compliance and advice, covering income tax capital gains tax and IHT, with structured in house training, and on the job learning. Our services include; Personal Tax Compliance and Planning, Non-UK Domiciliaries, Trusts & Estates, Entrepreneurs / OMB, Transactions and Dispute Resolution.

A typical day as an Associate at Blick Rothenberg is varied but always consists of working within a team, providing support to managers, senior managers and partners within the Private Client department. There will be early responsibility as you work with a wide range of clients including high net worth individuals, trusts, and entrepreneurs. The role will involve assisting with clients’ tax affairs on a daily basis, working with the partners, directors and senior managers on UK and international tax advisory projects, attending client meetings and conference calls with senior team members. The role will therefore suit an ambitious candidate with a desire to further their education with a professional qualification whilst receiving on the job training with a top London practice.

Studying the professional examinations

Our Associates attend integrated link courses run by a leading financial training company in London to prepare them for their professional examinations. The courses combine periods of full time study and progress examinations with a home study element. The tutors liaise with us on a regular basis, allowing us to maintain an active interest in performance. Successful candidates will be supported throughout their professional studies towards the Association of Taxation Technicians (ATT) qualification and achieving Chartered Taxation Advisor (CTA) status.

We pay for all courses, exam fees and study leave for first sittings. The company’s commitment to our candidates’ development shows in the consistently high pass rates our students achieve in the examinations. This is something we are very proud of. Our success lies first in the process of selection and then in providing the best possible tuition, both in practical and theoretical terms.

What can we offer you?

When you join Blick Rothenberg as an early careers professional, you gain much more than a qualification. You join the Blick Rothenberg culture and way of life. You will enjoy early responsibility and will find our business to be friendly and our working environment to be both lively and stimulating.

To balance the demands of a busy role and study, our teams host regular social events, and our annual firm-wide Summer and Christmas Parties are enjoyed by all. Our employee resource groups play a pivotal role in promoting a more inclusive culture and celebrate diverse perspectives that enrich our firm.

We are committed to the development of our people. In addition to you training with our external training provider, we run regular in-house technical training courses as well as practical personal development training such as communication, teamwork, and transition to the workplace.

What are we looking for

For us, the personal attributes of each of our colleagues are what makes us authentic in the marketplace. We look for people who:

  • Can collaborate with peers but can also bring their own voice to the table.
  • Are dynamic in their approach and respectful of other people’s opinions.
  • Want to be more than just a team member, someone who wants to join a business of likeminded individuals.
  • Want to work in a medium-sized firm such as ours where your work opportunities will be varied.
  • Are inquisitive and enjoy learning new concepts.

We are not looking for someone who knows everything already, but someone who is committed to their development and learning.

Good communication skills, both written and verbal, are also necessary, as is the ability to work as a member of a team.

To get the job that you’ll love you will:

  • To have or be heading towards a 2:2 degree.
  • You will need the right to work in the UK from your start date.
