We are a small team that provides support to Committee meetings, the Leader and Elected Members. We also deliver School Admissions Appeals, Electoral Registration, Elections and Complaints administration.

The role
Your primary responsibilities will be to support scrutiny committees and their functions and provide corporate assurance on the effectiveness of scrutiny committees, including preparation of reports, providing advice and guidance for committee members and officers, and manage the set-up arrangements for Call-in reviews and provide support at Call-in committee meetings.
You will get to work closely with the Leader of the Council and Councillors to provide a comprehensive and confidential support to them. You will also be supporting with administrative support on Education Admission Appeals, Electoral Registration and Election related duties.

About you
The minimum entry requirement is a 2:2 degree, after which we assess candidates against nine key criteria:
- The ability to build strong working relationship with internal and external partners and suppliers - Experience of researching and advising on technical governance matters
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to present findings clearly
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills with the ability to communicate at all levels of the organisation and translate complex messages relating to Governance matters into business language.
- Strong team working, developing cross-functional relationships and fostering co-operation within and across teams.
- Ability to effectively prioritise service demands in accordance with agreed service plans and performance indications.
- Focus on personal professional development and willing to undertake all relevant training.
- Out of hours working (including flexibility of working approach and patterns and availability for essential out-of-hours support).
