    Would you like to be at the forefront of creating the ML / AL tools that millions of people use? This is an exciting opportunity to become part of the team developing the latest technology for one of the world’s biggest broadcasters. In this postgraduate apprenticeship, you’ll work with the BBC Product and Technology teams to expand your knowledge of data science and work towards an industry recognised L7 Artificial Intelligence (Data) Specialist Apprenticeship Qualification.

    Main Responsibilities

    Design and develop AI tools for the BBC, helping us deliver innovative, tailored content and services that are used by millions of people. And use statistics to solve problems, increase efficiency and inspire creativity.

    Get hands on experience to develop your knowledge of software programming, linear algebra, statistics, algorithms and machine learning. You’ll work with BBC Datalabs, R&D and production teams and learn from industry experts.

    Study for your postgraduate qualification, we’ll support your learning in modules and projects including:

    • Statistical foundations and learning of data science  
    • Data visualisation  
    • Data management, big data and exploratory data analytics  
    • Data science in the wild  
    • Group project in data science  
    • Cloud computing  
    • Bayesian data analysis

    Are you the right candidate?

    To be eligible for an apprenticeship, you must:

    • Have at least a 2:1 BSc honours degree (or international equivalent) in: either maths, statistics, computer/data science, or an engineering discipline with a high level of maths and English content 
    • If English is not your first language, you need to be at International English Language Testing System (IELTS) level 6.5, with a minimum of 5.5 in all sub skills  
    • Be legally allowed to work in the UK 
    • Have lived in the UK, Ireland or the European Economic Area (EEA), for at least three years before the start of the apprenticeship. Or have either pre-settled or settled status under the EU Settlement Scheme and lived in the UK, EEA or Gibraltar for at least three years 

    We’ll ask you to give examples to show you’re:

    • Good at using maths to solve problems 
    • Skilled in practical programming and software engineering 
    • Comfortable communicating and collaborating with people from different departments  
    • Able to manage time well 
    • Flexible and resilient
