Gladman Developments are the UK’s most active and successful land promoter based in Congleton, Cheshire. We believe in using our expertise to partner with landowners to help them to realise the true potential of their land through its development for residential or residential led mixed-use development.

    You will work alongside the solicitors in Gladman Legal Department (currently 8 in number) and the paralegal/legal secretary to provide efficient and effective support to the business in respect of all property related activities arising in the course of the business.

    Your duties will include

    • Management of a variety of day to day property related queries from any other team in the business and advising on those (including title requests, search queries, verifying plan accuracy via land registry searches, obtaining information from completed deeds)
    • Preparing initial draft documentation including inputting standard information from the title documents and heads of terms
    • Preparing aspects of internal reports on title including researching and reporting on searches and enquiries
    • Contributing to the support function for the solicitors including appropriate scanning and storing of completed legal documentation on a weekly basis; sending completed documentation to other parties.
    • Liaising with business support and accounts (including where required): the organisation of documents being signed by third parties and couriers, chasing and organising documents with other solicitors
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Word particularly in relation to preparation of ongoing legal documents and correspondence, track changes, automatic numbering, cross referencing clauses and index population together with proof reading prior to preparing engrossing, proofreading, checking for formatting, automatic numbering etc, combining & comparing docs.

    What you'll need

    To be successful in the role, we are looking for:

    • A successfully completed Legal Practice Course qualification. (This position is intended to provide the applicant with additional legal experience and skills in property and property development which may be of benefit when looking for a future trainee solicitor position, but Gladman cannot offer a training contract)
    • The person will need to be willing and able to learn to skills to acquire a working knowledge of the land registry and understanding of land registry title information; an understanding of searches and their functions; ability to use excel spreadsheets; detailed and extensive knowledge of word and digital systems of the legal department including digital dictation.
    • Attention to detail, excellent organisational skills; the ability to work under pressure and multi-task as necessary and excellent communication skills to liaise with both internal departments and external organisations including local authorities and external legal firms are essential.
    • Self-motivated and able to work autonomously and as part of a team
