There are two different specialisms on offer. You will have the opportunity during your application to choose the specialist, that suits your skills, interests, and aspirations best.

    Marine Underwriting

This fast-growing area of our business is all about protecting ships, the valuable cargo they carry and the ports and terminals they sail between. At Aviva, a big part of our marine insurance is managed by our expert underwriters at Lloyd’s of London, which is pretty much the heart of global insurance. You’ll be learning from a supportive team and getting formal training from the International Union of Marine Insurers, so you’ll gain practical skills in no time.  As you progress there’ll be opportunities to manage your own portfolio and once you’ve moved into a senior position, there’s the potential of global travel and representing us in different markets.

    Contingency Underwriting

This is a new and exciting area of our business that’s rapidly gaining momentum. Our contingency underwriting team helps to protect our customers from the risks that come with planning events. With lots of potential for growth as we expand our portfolio, join us as a graduate here, and dive into something different and really make an impact. Your days will be varied, including time spent at Lloyd’s of London, building relationships with brokers and other key players in the contingency market.  You’ll support the team by researching everything from artists and bands to political climates and weather patterns, helping to evaluate the risks around major events like concerts, sports tournaments, and even the Olympics.
