In this role, you will work on our new NMC NE contract which is worth up to an estimated £540m, and will run for eight years with a potential to extend for a further four years. Working with Transport Scotland, Amey will deliver highways maintenance on the motorways and trunk roads, design road safety schemes, and look after bridges and structures.

Other contract deliverables include an enhanced winter and incident response service, improvements to customer experience as well as the introduction of new technology for better asset management.

Responsibilities

From day one you’ll be given real responsibility, gaining invaluable experience and exposure working alongside our industry experts and across your team. As a Graduate, you will be working to assist with the identification and development of Road Maintenance schemes undertaken within the NMC SW Asset Management team which includes the following responsibilities:

  • Preparation of Statement of Intents
  • Use construction solutions that cause minimum disruption to the travelling public
  • Liaise with other delivery managers regarding supervision
  • Deliver schemes to annual programme and budgets
  • Ensure that road schemes are delivered to time and budget in accordance with programme and financial commitment
  • Review design and contractual options during the design process
  • Review success of solutions and provide feedback to all relevant parties
  • Comply with all relevant health and safety legislation

What will you bring

As a Graduate, other than your relevant degree, we don’t expect you to bring prior experience with you when you join us; we will give you all the skills and opportunities. We therefore keep our list of essential requirements to a minimum, but there are a few things needed to qualify for our programme:

  • Minimum 2:2 Degree in Civil Engineering or Asset Management
  • Available to join the programme in September 2023
  • A full UK Driving licence is essential for this role
  • We want you to share our passion and desire to develop yourself within this exciting area.
