Sophie is an English Literature graduate from Durham University. She secured a graduate role as a Planning Executive at Publicis Groupe through Bright Network. 
First, we’d love for you to tell us a little bit about yourself.
“I studied English Literature and wasn’t exactly sure what I wanted to do. I did a PR internship after university and decided that I wanted to go into media and communications. I did a gap year and ended up doing three ski seasons which I loved!”
What motivated you to apply for your role?
“I was motivated by the global nature of the company, with offices all over the world.
I’ve always wanted to potentially move abroad and working for a global company affords you these opportunities.
They also have an amazing scheme where you can work anywhere in the world where they have an office for up to 6 weeks a year.”
What was the application process like?
“The application process was lengthy but rewarding!
The initial application required a cover letter & answering some questions, which was followed by a 1-hour online test and a screening call with recruitment, before finally being invited to an assessment day. It was very thorough but moved quickly.
The Early Careers team were amazing, and I had a call with them before the day to prepare and ask questions.”
What are you most proud of about your journey?
“I’m most proud of the fact I believed in myself. This role looked like my dream job and I hadn’t had much luck in the job market, but I threw everything at it and it paid off!”
What have you learned from going through the process?
“The most important thing is to be enthusiastic and to ask lots of questions.
They’re investing in you, so you need to be able to show that you’re passionate and keen to learn.”

“Have patience – the right job will find you!”
